As an Advocate, you will provide professional support to crime victims. In this role, you will offer information, resources, and assist victims in court by helping them assert their rights. You have an opportunity to advocate for those experiencing trauma and the complexities of the criminal justice system. To assist victims, advocates employ trauma-informed intervention techniques and serve as liaisons between the prosecutor and victims of crimes

We Require
Two years of experience with victim advocacy, social work, crisis intervention, or a related field
Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, social work, family studies, psychology, or a behavioral or social science-related field
We Also Value
Experience in case management
Experience working in a criminal justice system
Public service experience working in an advocate-related capacity
Bilingual skills in English and Spanish
Job Contributions
Provide information on the criminal justice system, victims' legal rights and protections
Provide information on the criminal justice process
Attend court proceedings with, or on behalf of a victim
Identify resources for victims and make referrals to various social service agencies
Provide crisis intervention/short-term counseling
Research case status using numerous computer databases
Manage large caseloads and document information
Prepare reports and present findings
Work in the presence of or with a trained canine that comforts victims
Working Conditions
Office environment with a hybrid teleworking schedule offered after six months of employment based on business needs
Ability to move up to 20 pounds floor to waist and push/pull up to 20 pounds at a distance of up to 100 feet
Ability to travel to and from job-related locations during the course of a scheduled workday, subject to County policies regarding the use of a County or private vehicle used on County business
Valid Arizona driver's license is required upon hire
Requires a thorough background check of all candidates and is authorized to test prospective employees for the presence of illegally accessed drugs
Drug testing is conducted once an offer has been extended and prior to placement
