Position Summary: This position supervises a group of automation engineers in the corporate advanced manufacturing technology group toward the attainment of corporate and departmental objectives, utilizing technical, interpersonal, and business skills. This person ensures that business automation needs are met in a safe and ethical manner while leading their team to deliver timely, technologically advanced, safe, and scalable solutions. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: ​​The Automation Supervisor will primarily own: ​Drive and assist in the development and implementation of automation departmental objectives. ​Manage department workload to ensure priorities are aligned with demands on the department. Attend Extended Automation Engineering staff meetings and report on performance and issues. ​Communicate with internal and external customers and ensure timely resolution of automation or related project issues affecting customer satisfaction. ​Project a helpful & confident attitude when dealing with customers, distributors, their associates, and related internal functional groups. ​Drive and lead continuous improvement actions by planning and implementing changes that meet or exceed corporate and departmental objectives. ​Be the owner and champion for excellent customer service for the team, use standard work approach to ensure consistent service and quality. ​Ability to communicate technical information in simple and succinct terms. Know your audience always. ​Promote great teamwork both within and outside the department. Use an appreciative enquiry approach to people and process improvements. ​Conduct departmental meetings that focus on building and maintaining good business relationships with associates, customers, distributors, and other cross-functional internal areas. ​Aide in the development & evaluation of associates in regards to personal and professional growth. ​Create and maintain associate records, department metrics and department reports in an accurate and timely manner. Respect the confidentiality of this information. ​Assess staffing requirements and departmental capabilities. ​Offer timely and appropriate recognition to individuals for their contribution toward meeting departmental objectives. ​Recommend and coordinate and at times manage departmental or special projects ​As a leader, you are expected to know, enforce, and appropriately escalate all Swagelok associate policies.​ Approximate # of direct reports (if applicable) – A maximum of 10 internal technical representatives. Potentially one or more remotely located dotted line representative. Education and/or Work Experience Requirements: Required: Education: Required: B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Controls, Mechatronics, Automation Engineering. Other similar technical disciplines will be considered, if they are supplemented with appropriate relevant experience, skills and competencies related to low-level automation hardware and systems, and their application to business problems in ways that provide clear and sustainable value. Experience: Relevant technical experience in industrial automation, robotics, controls, mechatronics, or other operations technology engineering is preferred; experience leading technical teams in a fast-paced manufactring environment is preferred. Skills/Knowledge: Excellent customer service, communication, leadership and negotiation skills are required. Demonstrating sound common sense judgment and knowing when to seek to understand is important. A broad knowledge of Swagelok product families and a sound technical understanding of the related manufacturing methods and technologies are preferred. Person needs the ability to speak with confidence on technical issues. Preferred: Previous supervisory experience preferred. Previous hands-on experience with industrial automation and operations technologies preferred.
