Responsibilities/Qualifications

The Email Marketing Specialist is a hybrid role requiring in-office work at our Livonia, Michigan headquarter, that we call Pet Central, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday each week. This position is responsible for the tactical operations of the email program supporting two brands (Pet Supplies Plus and Wag N' Wash), email campaigns from start to finish, producing analytics and insights to optimize our email program, and development and execution of SMS campaigns.

The Email Marketing Specialist key responsibilities include:
  • Coordinate email campaigns including: design and creative submission, production, proofing, approvals and delivery of email campaigns by required deadlines.
  • Code emails in our ESP (Oracle Responsys).
  • Build SQL queries.
  • Assist in building customer journeys.
  • Have a working knowledge of our data systems and how that data moves in and out of our ESP.
  • Track and report on email campaigns to optimize delivery.
  • Ensure that emails comply with organizational standards, email marketing best practices and CAN-SPAM laws.
  • Perform Quality Assurance on final emails.
  • Determine and build audience requirements and segmentation for all campaigns.
  • Provide and make recommendations for new and innovative solutions for unmet needs.
  • Work closely with third party vendors to communicate email campaign requirements, coordinate creative, complete campaign requests and see through to execution.
PAWsome Email Marketing Specialist candidates will have:
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, or related field.
  • 2-5 years' experience in email marketing (SMS experience is a plus)
  • Proficient in HTML, SQL and Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with CRM and email tools, preferably Oracle Responsys but not required.
  • Familiar with Photoshop and Dreamweaver.
  • Strong analytical and planning skills.
  • Highly organized, with attention to detail.
  • Working knowledge of CAN-SPAM and best practices to optimize deliverability.
  • Ability to successfully juggle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated collaborative skills and ability to work well within a team.
  • Understanding of customer relationship marketing.
  • Email Quality Assurance experience a plus.
