WHAT YOU'LL DO

The Accountant leads the monthly accounting close for two or more of our brands. This position will ensure the reporting of accurate, complete, and timely financial results by partnering with departments and brands across the organization as well as our external auditors.

WHERE YOU’LL WORK

This position will work a hybrid schedule from our Leawood, KS office location preferred.

HOW YOU’LL SPEND YOUR TIME

  • Perform cash reconciliations for certain business units
  • Prepare journal entries for monthly close related adjustments, prepaid expenses, inventory adjustments, accruals, etc.
  • Complete analysis for inventory reserve, bad debt allowance and returns reserve
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts to the general ledger and prepare supporting schedules
  • Compile monthly balance sheet and profit & loss analysis
  • Review, evaluate and assist with the implementation and/or improvement of internal controls
  • Support the external audit through the preparation, review, and delivery of requested documentation
  • Assist in the documentation and maintenance of accounting policies, procedures, and processes
  • Respond to ad hoc data or reporting requests and support special projects as needed
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting; Master’s and CPA preferred
  • Minimum of 2+ years of relevant accounting experience; public accounting experience is preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of GAAP and financial statements
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Experience with Great Plains and Management Reporter is preferred
  • Excellent critical thinking and analytical skills
  • Process improvement mindset
  • Organized and self-directed with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Proven track record of increased job responsibilities and expanded roles
  • Commitment to the highest standards of honesty and integrity
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and an excellent written and verbal communicator
