CropLife America (CLA) Science and Regulatory team is seeking a Science Policy Fellow to be a part of our fast-paced science policy team. Established in 1933, CLA represents the developers, manufacturers, formulators, and distributors of pesticides and plant science solutions for agriculture and pest management in the United States. CLA represents its members by monitoring legislation, federal agency regulations and actions, and litigation that impact the pesticide and pest control industries and participating in such actions when appropriate, as well as communicating the benefits of pesticides to a variety of audiences. CLA's members produce, sell, and distribute virtually all the pesticide and biotechnology products used by American farmers

The Science and Regulatory Team at CLA is responsible for driving collaboration among partners from the entire agricultural value chain to power advances in science, policy, and regulation. We work with scientists, government relations, legal and communications to engage with policymakers to advocate for science-based regulations. The Science Policy Fellow will work with all members of the Science and Regulatory Team to: Write and analyze scientific and policy documents from U.S Federal, and State Regulatory Agencies and international multi-lateral forums; organize meetings with membership to develop comments and staffing committees. The fellow will also develop and lead technical projects to advance science used in pesticide risk assessment.

This position is budgeted at $75,000 annually.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter and highly motivated individual who can collaborate effectively within a small but fast-paced organization. Candidates must be a current doctoral student close to completion in Agriculture, Biology, Toxicology or related field, or have obtained a terminal degree and interested in agricultural research and science policy. Candidates must be based in the United States and have full eligibility to work in the United States at time of hire.

The ideal Fellowship candidate will demonstrate the following:

  • Excellent written and verbal scientific communication skills
  • Show strong initiative
  • Highly organized, including being able to manage multiple projects and deadlines, and being attentive to detail.
  • Have experience with the Microsoft suite (i.e., Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
