We are a leading, national real estate service provider looking to hire an Accounting Supervisor at our Parsippany, NJ Headquarters. This position reports directly to the Controller, assisting in all aspects of financial reporting, general ledger closes and account reconciliations as well as involvement in budgeting, planning and more. This role is highly visible and a vital part of the finance team with growth potential.

What you'll be doing
  • Responsible for accounting and periodic general close process: prepare journal entries, review financial statements, prepare analysis, monthly reconciliations of balance sheet and bank accounts.
  • Directly oversee and review the work conducted by an offshore accounting team, providing guidance and feedback as necessary.
  • Prepare monthly reporting packages to the Parent company.
  • Maximize company profitability by preparing and analyzing job cost reports and expenses.
  • Conduct actual-to-budget site reviews to identify areas of improvement.
  • Assist with the annual budgets process, interim and year-end audit requests, as well as, other special projects as assigned.
  • Maintain annual business license and tax filings.
  • Review sales tax reporting and filings.
  • Perform year-end 1099 reporting.
  • Review accounts payable activity to ensure completeness and accuracy.
  • Assist the Controller in setting departmental goals, maintaining internal controls, and implementing best practices for efficient financial operations.
  • Periodically research technical accounting issues and review existing accounting procedures to ensure compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements.
What's needed to do the job
  • Strong corporate accounting experience with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Possesses personal and professional integrity.
  • Can communicate confidently, well-organized, and has a good sense of priorities.
and now the Requirements
  • 5 years of experience working as an accountant
  • College degree majoring in accounting
  • Solid understanding of GAAP
  • Intermediate knowledge in Microsoft Office (specifically Excel)
  • Any automated accounting software, preferably Sage Intacct.
  • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal and management communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, customer service, problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment with additional hours during closes.
  • Proactively identify areas for process improvement and present actionable recommendations to the Controller for consideration.
