The Vice President, Head of Global DE&I is a vital member of our HR Leadership team. This individual will be responsible for guiding our organization's journey in diversity, equity, and inclusion. They will empower our employees to support Alnylam's business growth by providing the right leadership, talent, and organizational capabilities.

This position requires a leader who can embed themselves in the business, working closely with a diverse group of colleagues from various Expertise Areas to ensure that the company's efforts toward diversity, equity, and inclusion remain authentic and aligned with Alnylam's core values and business needs. The responsibilities of this role include leading the cross-functional forum made up of DE&I, Human Resources, and Corporate Responsibility Council, which oversees all key initiatives and activities to ensure they are in line with the company's vision and mission.

Key Responsibilities

    • Develop and lead a sustainable global DE&I program that aligns with the company's core values and DE&I vision and mission. Ensure alignment with the Executive Leadership Team to help foster DE&I throughout the organization
    • Collaborate with the Human Resources team to handle various aspects of employee management, such as hiring, training, equitable benefits, and employee relations. Additionally, work alongside stakeholders in Corporate Responsibility to engage with the community, Clinical Operations/Patient Advocacy to ensure clinical trial diversity, Legal, Compliance & Facilities to guarantee employee access and rights, and Expertise Area leaders to act as a role model and promote diversity, equity, and inclusion.
    • Lead and engage with the DE&I Leadership Teams in the US and OUS to drive DEI goals and manage budget
    • Support ERN Executive Sponsors and Leadership Teams to ensure the smooth operation of ERNs, providing leadership opportunities and appropriate rewards to employees who volunteer their time and effort on ERN activities.
    • Assist in leading and organizing significant global Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I) events and celebrations.
    • Help with early diverse talent development activities and build on workforce development
    • Represent Alnylam externally with various organizations as a speaker to increase visibility and promote DE&I leadership.

Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in arts, sciences, or communications
    • Seasoned, authentic leader in DE&I with a minimum of 5 years of leadership experience, ideally in biotech/life sciences
    • Ability to work with diverse and cross-functional groups of stakeholders at various levels within the organization and also externally to advocate for DE&I
    • Embodies Alnylam core values of commitment to people and open culture
    • Demonstrates leadership skills in making decisions, driving, organizing, and coordinating activities, often without direct authority
    • Shows good judgment in making decisions and navigating complex and sensitive external and internal issues with strong leadership, creativity, and personal engagement
