The Role:

The Director of Global Scientific Communications will lead the development and execution of global scientific messaging strategies across Modernas pipeline. This role involves collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, overseeing the Medical Review Committee (MRC) process, and driving the use of digital tools to enhance content delivery and engagement. You will play a key role in influencing cross-functional teams and ensuring communication strategies align with Modernas business objectives and regulatory requirements.

Heres What Youll Do:

Strategic Messaging Leadership: Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, including clinical, commercial, and regulatory teams, to develop and execute strategic scientific communication plans that align with Modernas business objectives and the Global Medical Affairs Plan (GMAP).

Scientific Data Translation: Lead the translation of complex scientific data into impactful, globally consistent narratives that are clear, relevant and adaptable for external audiences such as healthcare professionals, regulatory bodies, and key opinion leaders in different regions.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Lead cross-functional teams globally, ensuring scientific messaging supports the broader global product strategy, complies with global regulatory requirements, and addresses local market dynamics.

Digital Enablement: Leverage digital tools and platforms to optimize content delivery, enhance stakeholder engagement, and ensure messages reach the right audiences through the most effective channels.

Medical Review Process Oversight: Oversee the creation and submission of scientific materials through the MRC process, ensuring timely updates, regulatory compliance, and global consistency across multiple therapeutic areas.

Training and Development: Mentor global and local teams on effective scientific communication strategies, fostering a collaborative approach that supports global alignment with local execution.

External Engagement: Lead the development of content for scientific symposia, conferences, and other key scientific forums, ensuring consistency in messaging and alignment with Modernas scientific leadership and strategic goals.

Heres What Youll Need (Minimum Qualifications)

PharmD/PhD with 5+ years or BSc/MSc in life sciences with 8+ years of experience in medical communications within the pharmaceutical or biotech industry.

Proven ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams without direct authority, driving strategic initiatives globally.

Experience utilizing digital platforms to optimize content delivery and stakeholder engagement.

Demonstrated ability to translate complex scientific data into clear, impactful messages for diverse external audiences, including healthcare professionals, regulatory bodies, and key opinion leaders.

Hands-on experience managing the MRC process and ensuring global compliance with varying regulatory requirements across different regions.

Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with experience guiding teams on scientific communication best practices, even without direct reporting lines.

Proven ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams globally, co-creating strategies with local teams to ensure effective execution of global strategies.
