Financial Aid Advisor

at our Van Nuys, CA area campus. This is an On-Ground Position. Overview: The Financial Aid Advisor is responsible for assisting students in their application for Financial Assistance to attend Gurnick. Specific tasks include performing qualifying interviews, assisting in the completion of the FAFSA, advising students on the availability of FAFSA on the web, entering FAFSA information into the USDOE system when necessary, and tracking, receiving, and auditing student ISIRs. The FAA clears any ISIR comment codes, collects verification documentation on selected students, and manages the student’s hard copy FA file for completeness and accuracy. The FAA is also responsible for assisting students in applying for any other funding that may be available, including CAL Grant programs, program-specific assistance, scholarships and grants, VA, vocational rehabilitation, and others. Responsibilities include packaging student assistance awards, scheduling awards correctly in the Gurnick tracking systems, and updating information during repackaging, crossover award year reapplications, and student exit interviews for withdrawing, LOA, or graduating students. The FAA may perform Tuition Adjustment Calculations and Return to Title IV (R2TIV) funds calculations for students withdrawing or beginning a LOA, as well as calculating an unfunded balance and setting up approved arrangements to handle it. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: Conduct qualifying interviews with students to determine the necessities of the application process. Assist students in the timely completion of FAFSA on the Web. Enter FAFSA into the EDE system when necessary. Utilize the Student Tracking Form to track the application process. Assist in applying for additional non-Title IV funds. Analyze need and prepare award packages, ensuring that awards do not exceed calculated need. Make satisfactory arrangements with students for any calculated unfunded balance. Audit ISIRs for correct application information. Complete timely verification on selected ISIRs. Clear any “C” Comment Codes on all selected ISIRs. Ensure crossover award year packaging is completed. Ensure that students awarded Federal Student Loan Funds have Entrance Counseling performed and documented. Enter, edit, and update student scheduled aid in Gurnick tracking systems. Calculate Return to Title IV for withdrawing and LOA students. Calculate Tuition Adjustment calculations for withdrawing and LOA students. Conduct exit interviews with all graduating and LOA students, and withdrawing students. Maintain Student FA Files in both hard copy and electronic formats according to policies. Assist in Registrar functions of campuses. Assist in the collection of unfunded balance payments. Assist in yearly compliance audits and program reviews. Additional duties as required. Requirements: Significant experience in the processing of federal or state student assistance programs. A minimum of one year of Financial Aid Experience is required (2 Years Preferred). Job Type:
