Job Summary

The primary function of the College Advisor Aide is to perform administrative and office support activities for program staff. Duties include but are not limited to answering telephone calls, filing, handling purchase orders and check requests, event planning, ordering supplies for the office and program, organizing and maintaining office/student files.

Job Duties

  • 50% - Program Administration - Provide administrative support to Upward Bound staff (making copies/constructing and organizing documents and files/helping with supplies and ordering, etc.) Provides telephone and in person service and support to program, students, parents and other members of the college and local community; greets office visitors; maintains daily schedule for program staff; makes travel arrangements and schedules appointments as requested. Updates and manages the Upward Bound Program's website, Facebook, twitter, etc. accounts; finds innovative methods to connect with current/former students. Contributes to team effort by offering innovative ideas; exploring new opportunities to enhance the services of the department; helping others accomplish related job results as and where needed. - (Essential)
  • 50% - Academic Services - Develop and implement academic workshops for program participants to help navigate secondary and post-secondary education. Supervise program participants during cultural and academic excursions. Provide logistical support for notable events. Assist in compiling academic resources and tools that will optimize classroom learning and ensure ongoing learning outside academic settings. - (Essential)
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must have experience facilitating group activities and workshops.
  • Strong interpersonal and time management skills.
  • Knowledgeable in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel & PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrate initiative, teamwork, creativity, flexibility and follow-through with strong organizational skills.
  • Effective oral, written, and electronic communication skills in English.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate Degree.
  • Ability to work with a culturally diverse population.


EXPECTED HIRING RANGE: $17.28/hr
