Shift and schedule
:
Typically Monday to Friday (08:00 AM-05:00 PM), plus emergency support and overtime/weekends as necessary. This could include work during the customer’s non-revenue service hours.
Accountabilities
Act as the principal interface with MBTA, tenants and Third Parties on all operational matters.
Identify, implement, and track support needs and system modification.
Work collaboratively with the Engineering team to monitor and control activities leading to the successful implementation of engineering changes.
Overall understanding and consultation on service and system impacts of MBTA events.
Troubleshooting and support aptitude on interoperation of combined segments.
The role is accountable and responsible for systems analysis, design, development, integration, and enhancements.
Monitoring PTC subsystems for failures, exceptions, and threshold issues.
Creates and updates documentation as necessary to ensure architectures, designs, and other descriptions are up-to-date and describe the as-deployed system.
Complete adherence to quality standards and procedures.
Develop technical reports and presentations for senior management as needed.
Assist the MBTA with defining system requirements relating to changes to the MBTA’s infrastructure driven by planned railroad activities.
Support maintaining Software Repository/Configuration Management.
Support field activities to include updates, changes, and testing.
Researching related technical solutions for various projects and operational needs.
Install new/rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.
Requires on‐call status.
After hours and periodic shift work may occasionally be required
Additional duties as assigned.
Escalate to Program Manager and SME (on-call services) if no solution is available.
Required Skills/ Knowledge
Strong Windows and Unix server skills to include Command Prompt and Terminal commands.
ACSES II PTC and back-office experience.
Interpersonal skills a must.
Self-motivated, goal oriented, task oriented, and able to follow written procedures.
Able to read and follow written procedures, network diagrams, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
Excellent Organizational skills.
Strong Leadership and Communication skills.
Solid documentation experience with Visio, Word, and Excel.
Experience in railroad signaling projects or maintenance.
Field experience acceptable in lieu of lab experience.
SQL experience is preferred but not required.
Education / Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems or Business Management, or equivalent technical background
7+ years relevant experience or;
11+ years of relevant work experience in subject matter expert capacity required to satisfy education and experience requirements.
Broad level of understanding of information systems, systems architecture, and integration standards.
Ability to focus on business goals while ensuring development is completed on time.
Ability to interpret customer needs and redefined as business goals.
The salary range for this position is $121,000 to $182,000 per year. Final pay is determined by the candidate’s experience, skillset and ability level, internal equity and location.
