The Lead Systems Engineer will oversee the management of both physical and virtual Linux servers, specifically utilizing Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES), to bolster Defensive Cyber Operations for our esteemed clients.
Key ResponsibilitiesManage server systems, security devices, distributed applications, and network storage while conducting system monitoring. Provide consultation on network, application, and customer service matters to ensure the security and availability of computer systems. Deliver expert-level support for Linux system administration, focusing on RHEL and SLES. Ensure timely system patch management. Uphold the security posture of systems. Implement Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) effectively. Analyze ACAS/Tenable security scans and address vulnerabilities as necessary. Enhance system administration efficiency by developing and updating relevant shell scripts. Prepare and submit timely reports on project status and systems administration tasks. Collaborate with government and contractor entities to maintain accurate and current information. Ensure a clean, secure, and organized working environment. Complete mandatory training requirements in accordance with established policies. Record daily labor hours in the corporate system. Travel may be required up to 10% as necessary. Perform additional duties as assigned. Required Qualifications
High school diploma or GED is mandatory. A minimum of 7 years of experience as a Linux System Administrator on RHEL and SLES in an enterprise environment, including experience with VMware vSphere and application of Secure Technical Implementation Guides (STIG). At least 3 years of experience with RMF-based Information Security Systems Engineer (ISSE) documentation. Familiarity with ACAS/Tenable security suite. CompTIA Security+ certification is required at the start. Must be a U.S. Citizen. A valid driver's license is necessary. General Service (GENSER)/Secret clearance is required at the start.
Skills and Competencies:
Proficient in shell scripting. Knowledgeable in enterprise backup software and administration. Familiar with enterprise storage administration concepts. Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) Level 3 is preferred. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment as well as independently. Self-motivated with the capability to identify issues and develop action plans for resolution. Demonstrated initiative, adaptability, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects under tight deadlines. Strong communication skills.
