Job Title: Civil EngineerJob Description

Qualified candidates for the Water Resources Engineer position must have 3+ years of Civil Engineering design experience. This includes knowledge of local/county government guidelines and permitting processes in the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia for storm drainage design, Civil Site Design, Grading, sediment & erosion control, Roadway Plan and Profile, and Water and Sewer Design. A licensed professional engineer with a degree in Civil Engineering is required. Familiarity with project contractual requirements and experience working effectively as a liaison with Regulatory Agencies, General Contractors, and Owners is highly desirable. Some project development/management experience is advantageous. Excellent computer skills, including proficiency with CADD/Civil 3D and/or MicroStation design software, as well as Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), are necessary. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential. This position offers opportunities for individual responsibility and professional growth in our expanding organization.

Hard Skills

+ At least 7 years of experience in land development, stormwater management, sediment control, and grading

+ At least 3 years of design experience with Civil 3D

+ Degree in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering (preferred, not required)

+ Familiarity with SUE (Subsurface Utility Engineering) including crew management/schedules, SUE equipment such as Ground Penetrating Radar, Test Holes, utility designation, and client communication

Soft Skills

+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills

+ Ability to work effectively as a liaison with various stakeholders

+ Strong organizational and project management skills

Job Type

This is a permanent position.

Work Site

This is a hybrid position requiring some days on-site in Lanham, Maryland and some days remote.

Work Environment

80% Office (crew allocation/management, budget, schedule, client updates and meetings, internal updates and meetings). 20% Field (QA/QC of final job, routine check-ins with crews). This is a salaried position with no overtime. The company offers a laid-back, small company feel and the SUE group operates out of the Baltimore, MD office, working side by side with the Survey Department.
