ORGANIZATION TYPE: Economic Mobility Nonprofit

POSITION TITLE: Development Specialist

SCHEDULE: 35 Hrs Week (Full Time)

Hourly: $32.00-$35.00/hr

Is This Your Dream Job? The Development Specialist reports to the Development Director and supports the fundraising team with raising the yearly amount set out by the balance scorecard. This includes but is not limited to - Working on grant applications, Prospecting grants, attending meetings, taking notes, following next steps and moves management for all grants $150k or below or legacy cdc grants. The Development Specialist is an integral part of the fundraising team and will serve as an external representative.

Note: Although this position is remote, the hiring team prefers applicants located in the PST time zone or those familiar with the San Francisco geographic region.

Our Ideal Candidate:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in nonprofit grant writing/fundraising required.
  • Proficiency with CRM platforms, MS Office, and Google Suite environment
  • Interest in and passion for working within the field of economic development and supporting small businesses
  • An ability to work well with others and to represent the organization externally
  • Strong grant writing and editing skills with demonstrated experience in obtaining federal, state, local and foundation grants
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively engage senior staff and board in solicitation and cultivation activities
  • Demonstrated ability to generate and deliver persuasive and clear written and verbal communications, with strong presentation skills
  • The ability to develop and understand program and organizational budgets
  • Professional demeanor capable of working with, and gaining the respect of, senior-level business people
How You Will Spend Your Day:
  • Manage and maintain a list of existing funding partners in your portfolio with grant and proposal deadlines
  • Continually monitor new fundraising and grant-making initiatives that are relevant to the organization's mission
  • Work across the organization to manage all grants $150k and below in addition to all government grants where CDC small business finance is the lead applicant
  • Attend meetings with funders and potential funders, as requested
  • Research new funder prospects. Initiate communication and pursue/establish relationships.
  • Serve as the lead for all the grants in your portfolio as the lead proposal writer. This also includes drafting Letter of Interest's or LOI's as requested by funders
  • Work across the fundraising team to manage the calendar of when reports are due and assist in preparing to get reports submitted
  • Represent the organization at local economic development meetings community events and externally on calls and at in-person meetings
  • Help prepare donor facing materials needed for funders in your portfolio, including but not limited to presentations, agenda's, memo's emails and one-pagers
  • Coordinate and work with the Fundraising team in helping to contribute to strategy development to reach our fundraising goals
  • Contribute to Ad Hoc projects related to the fundraising team goals and initiatives
