POSITION SUMMARY:

In this role you will be responsible for developing and releasing installation and setup procedures and other necessary documentation to assist in the development and qualification of our current and new products. Additionally, you will also be responsible for engineering lab, alpha and beta site support. As a member of the systems engineering group, (s)he will be responsible for developing, qualifying, and releasing new products for our current and next gen product lines.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Installs, commissions, and maintains products at user's site. Performs modifications or retrofits as needed.
  • Act as a system level expert focused on product support for new product development.
  • Demonstrates depth of expertise in Plasma Etch specialized discipline or field.
  • Provides Alpha/Beta Site Support; specifically related to installation, operation, calibration, service and/or testing of a new hardware, software or processes on a customer tool.
  • Responsible for product Hardware performance at specific customer sites. Provides third level escalation for Hardware & Software (stability) issues. Provides resolution of critical long-term customer issues by identifying special projects for successful implementation and completion.
  • Conducts on-site training for early learning shipments and new product introductions. Training audience to include both internal and external engineers. Enhances local team product technical knowledge by frequent knowledge transfer from the MDS BU to the Field customers.
  • Recommends and implements best practices to improve products, processes or services
  • Lead functional teams or projects with minimal resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity
  • Leads others to solve complex problems; uses sophisticated analytical thought to exercise judgment and identify innovative solutions
  • Satisfy the company's and customer's on-site requirements, including safety, environmental. Complete required job documentation, safety training and procedures that satisfy our core competencies

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • B.S. Mechanical or Electrical Engineering,
  • 5+ Yrs. Experience in Semiconductor or Similar Capital Equipment Product Development experience with 5+ yrs. vacuum equipment experience
  • Prior experience performing multiple on-site installations required.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and valid passport.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Ability to read and interpret technical journals and reports
  • Ability to support customers as assigned
  • Ability to compile reports and compose routine correspondence
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, and respond to common inquires, complaints, and requests
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent people skills and project a professional image
  • Ability to effectively deal with customers and negative situations
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establishes facts, and draw valid conclusion.
  • Ability to travel (> 50%) to customer and/or vendor sites
WORK ENVIRONMENT and PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • The normal work environment is typical of a business office, manufacturing operation, with clean room and laboratory facility.
  • The incumbent is routinely required to sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, touch, see, and hear, and may be required to lift or move up to 25 pounds.
  • While performing the regular duties of the position, the incumbent may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, and possible exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • The incumbent must be able to wear safety equipment and follow safety instructions.
