GAI Consultants, Inc. is seeking a Practice Risk Manager who will oversee the organization's professional liability insurance and project risk management program, assessing and identifying risks that could impede the reputation, safety, security, or financial success of the organization. Our practice is in engineering, planning, and environmental consulting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Conducts risk assessments, collecting and analyzing documentation, and reports.

Establishes policies and procedures to identify and address project risks.

Reviews and assesses practice risk management policies and protocols; makes recommendations and implements modifications and improvements.

Serves as a member of the GAI Risk Management Committee.

Drafts and presents project risk reports and proposals to GAI's Risk Management Committee.

Assists GAI project managers in preparation of Risk Mitigation Plans.

Assists GAI project managers in crafting language to reduce risk in project reports, project plans, and project specifications.

Review, consultation, and finalization of client engagement contracts, subconsultant and subcontractor agreements.

Participates in negotiating with external clients regarding contractual issues.

Coordinates with GAI Technical Operations to ensure proper legal documents are used; review edits proposed by other contracting parties.

Conducts presentations or training and participates in training activities to enhance project manager's understanding of project risk management.

Determines the need for, coordinates and oversees the engagement of external counsel for project related activities.

Performs other duties as directed.

Required Skills/Abilities:

Thorough understanding of policies and best practices of risk management.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Excellent mathematical and critical thinking skills.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Strong supervisory and leadership skills.

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software to prepare reports and policies.

Education, Traits and/or Experience:

BA degree in Risk Management, or Civil Engineering. Either degree coupled with a law degree would be favorable.

At least six years of related experience is required. Experience within the practice of engineering, planning and environmental consulting is highly preferred.

Physical Demands:

Prolonged periods of sitting at desk and working on a computer

Must be able to lift a maximum of 15 pounds at times.

Travel Requirements:
