Position Summary

The Central Florida YMCA is seeking a dedicated and experienced Risk Manager to join our small, dynamic team. This key role involves overseeing risk management, compliance, and reporting across our multi-site operations spread over six counties. You will be the primary point of contact for risk-related incidents, ensuring they are assessed and escalated appropriately. Your expertise will help us maintain a safe environment for our team members, volunteers, and members while aligning with our mission to strengthen communities.

Job Responsibilities

General Risk and Workers Compensation:

  • Oversee the Workers Compensation process, follow up on incidents, and track concerns.
  • Manage and update HR/Risk procedural manuals, ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Maintain privacy and confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Collaborate with Family Center Operations Staff, HR, Finance, IT, and Association Office departments.
  • Identify and escalate problems to the Sr. Director of Employee Relations & Risk Management.

Training and Safety Programs:

  • Assist with internal and external safety training programs, ensuring compliance.
  • Manage safety certifications and mandatory training in Family Centers.

Data Entry and Integrity:

  • Ensure accurate data entry and maintenance in various systems and databases.
  • Conduct audits, provide recommendations, and facilitate necessary changes.
  • Assist in data collection, analysis, and reporting of key projects.

Committee Work:

  • Serve as a member of the Child Protection Team, Safety Committee, and Workers Comp Committee.
  • Lead training initiatives to decrease loss ratios and improve safety.

Volunteer Process Management:

  • Manage volunteer process, including background checks and compliance.
  • Coordinate with Family Center Operations and facilitate required training.
  • Monitor and ensure timely completion of volunteer clearances.

Other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Minimum three years' experience in managing risk management claims.
  • Workers' compensation claims experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with background clearances/screenings is a plus.
  • Proficiency with databases, SalesForce, VolunteerMatters, KPA Flex Risk Management System, and Microsoft Suite is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across the Central Florida YMCA Association.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, which may include weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Must be willing to work an on-call schedule rotation as required.
  • Must be willing to travel within Central Florida. Must have a valid Driver license. The employee is required to have visual acuity to operate motor vehicles.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • The physical activities of this position include: stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, and repetitive motions. Talking is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels, with or without correction.
  • Required to sit or stand for extended periods of time while demonstrating manual dexterity in order to accurately work on the phone, computer keyboard, and other equipment.
  • The employee must be able to perform light work: exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
  • The employee is required to have close visual acuity, along with the visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned, preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, viewing a computer screen, extensive reading, or to make general observations of facilities or structures.
  • Must possess auditory and verbal capabilities in order to adequately communicate via phone and in person.
  • The employee is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
