We are seeking Accounting Interns for Winter (part-time) and Summer (full-time) 2025, ideally in their last or second-to-last year of school, to work on-site in our Richmond office. We offer a superior work environment, including an open-door atmosphere, unlimited growth opportunities and limited travel.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
- Gain familiarity with paperless audits and audit software, audit objectives and current auditing pronouncements, practical application of accounting principles and financial statement disclosures.
- Utilize opportunities to apply analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Develop effective communication and interpersonal skills as well as basic research skills regarding accounting and auditing issues.
- Gain familiarity with accounting, tax, and fixed asset tracking software, federal and state tax laws as well as their effects on businesses and individuals and how to apply them to differing situations.
- Develop analytical skills to identify and advise on potential tax issues as well as basic tax research skills.
Essential Functions:
Perform a variety of tasks under direct supervision of senior staff accountant or manager, including the following:
- Prepare individual, partnership and corporate tax returns and related workpapers
- Prepare audit, review and compilation workpapers
- Prepare financial statements
- Perform research on specific audit and tax issues as directed by senior staff
- Perform data input and analysis
- Assist with onsite financial statement audits at client offices
- Assist with employee benefit plan audits
- Complete audit test work in areas including cash, receivables, and fixed assets
- Prepare reconciliations
- Assist with preparation of financial statements
- Prepare federal and state tax returns for a variety of entity types
- Prepare and record adjusting journal entries in order to complete trial balance
- Calculate depreciation and amortization and prepare schedules of property and equipment
- Assist senior staff as needed
- Maintain positive attitude and desire to succeed
