* GENERAL SUMMARY * Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) are integral and highly valued members of our multidisciplinary team. RBTs contribute to the achievement of quality care and patient outcomes by maintaining a safe and therapeutic milieu and clinic. RBTs will implement Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) treatment programs with patients in a variety of settings that could include: inpatient neurodevelopmental track, the behavior clinic, patient's home, community, telehealth. RBTs will be responsible for modeling pro-social and positive self-coping skills. RBTs maintain a safe and regulatory compliant treatment setting and collaborate with patient and team stakeholders to ensure an effective, compassionate, and evidence-based treatment experience. Reports to Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and Psychologist.

* ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES *

Provision of clinical care *

Provide direct treatment to patients under the direction of the BCBA in a 1:1 or group environment. * Review and implement a variety of patient specific and general NDT and Behavior Clinic written behavioral and educational protocols. * Accurately collect and clearly report data on specified patient behaviors. * Review and implement Clinical Supervisor feedback during each treatment session. * Communicate effectively and compassionately with patients, families, and colleagues. * Ability to participate well within a multidisciplinary team. * Maintain compliance with HIPAA requirements at all times. * Adhere to all CHKDHS policies, including inpatient unit and behavior clinic policies and * Implement patient's daily schedule of unit or clinic activities and engage patient even during times of unscheduled specific activity; adhere to general unit or clinic schedule. * Utilize appropriate prompting sequence, minimally as needed, to assist the patient to participate in task or activity at the highest level of independence; modify tasks to ensure maximum patient participation and engagement; assist in developing and implementing activities designed to increase target appropriate skills. * Maintain unit and clinic cleanliness and organization by replacing materials after use, returning supplies and materials to proper storage locations, ensuring safe, clean, and well-supplied programming area, cleaning up after self and patients and keeping areas free of extraneous materials. * Asist in the assessment of adaptive, leisure and self-help skills, potential reinforcers, and problem behaviors, as needed. * Understand and implement appropriate reinforcement schedule(s). Relay ineffective aspects of schedule back to broader team for review and adjustment. * Model implementation of BIP for caregivers and staff.

* Crisis Management * Follow safety procedures using de-escalation techniques, safe handling techniques, safety equipment, and approved Safety-Care physical management procedures (including physical restraint, patient transport, and self-protection from staff-directed aggressive behavior). * Maintain consistent awareness of where each assigned patient is on de-escalation cycle; utilize Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) to recognize and address any precursor behaviors or triggers known to precede severe problem behavior. * Adopt a collaborative and reflective stance with patients with the goal of de-escalation in mind.

* Ensure safe and compliant treatment setting * Manages session areas, unit environment and schedule, ensuring consistent structure and a priority towards safety. * Ensures work areas are organized, safe and ready for the next activity or shift. * Maintain constant awareness of patient location and immediately alerts supervisor or nurse, if applicable, to changes in behavior status. * Complete regular environmental modification assessment.

* LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS *

* Preferred Licenses and/or Certifications * None

* MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS *

Required Education and Experience * High School Diploma or GED required.

* Preferred Education and Experience * Undergraduate degree in Psychology, Applied Behavior Analysis, Social Work, Counseling, Mental Health, Education, Arts & Science, Healthcare or related field from an accredited college/university or equivalent course work and/or previous training and direct care employment experience to demonstrate knowledge or expertise in children or adolescences with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Undergraduate degree in noted disciplines preferred. * Supplemental trainings in Applied Behavior Analysis preferred. * Six months of previous experience working with developmentally disabled and/or individuals with severe problem behavior is preferred.

* Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities * Increased Security Clearance may be Required: FBI fingerprinting, criminal background check, and Child Protective Services registry search.

* WORKING CONDITIONS *

Inpatient hospital or outpatient practice / location with little exposure to dust, temperature, and the like.
