We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our team at Kempsville Center for Behavioral Health, a leading provider of acute, residential, and Partial Hospitalization treatment for children and teens exhibiting behavioral and/or mental health concerns.
Key Responsibilities- Plan, direct, implement, and evaluate all aspects of nursing care on assigned unit for residents and patients.
- Monitor, report, and document the residents'/patients' behavior and physiological status.
- Administer medications and perform treatments/procedures in compliance with facility and nursing services, policies, and procedures.
- Guide the response to residents who are behaviorally out of control or who may be experiencing a medical or behavioral crisis in collaboration with the Director of Nursing, Medical Staff with delineated privileges and Physician.
- Responsible for demonstrating clinical competence in the delivery of direct patient care and the implementation of the milieu management program.
- Report accurately and concisely to oncoming shifts regarding conditions of residents both medically and psychiatrically.
- Licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia or compact authority, as a Registered Nurse.
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program with active licensure and registration by the Virginia Board of Nurse Examiners, as a Registered Nurse; Bachelor or Master degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience that meets the education, knowledge, skills and abilities.
- Experience as a Registered Nurse, providing clinical care, generally equivalent to 1 or more years; experience in behavioral health strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of general addictions and psychiatric nursing process, therapeutic relationships and processes, age specific growth and development, limit setting crisis and behavior management strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Skill in the use of computer systems and software applications, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Excel).
- Demonstrated working knowledge of the Joint Commission/CMS requirements, and both state and federal regulatory requirements strongly preferred.
- Must be able to handle multiple competing tasks, with minimum supervision, and take initiative on matters of revolving urgency.
- CPR certification required.
