Rome Health is seeking a per diem, Health Information Management (HIM) Oncology Data Specialist - Certified (ODS-C). The HIM ODS-C performs case finding, data abstraction, and reporting on patients with a diagnosis of cancer and utilizing cancer data collection principles and assigns codes to the extracted data based on established coding systems (SEER) to ensure consistency and compliance with reporting guidelines. Duties will include:
•Performing case finding and clinical data abstraction on patients with a diagnosis of cancer to include demographic, diagnostic, clinical, and pathologic data
•Utilizing cancer data collection principles and assigns codes to data based on established coding systems
•Performing quality assurance activities such as resolution of data edits and non-reportable audits to assure all reportable cases are captured
•Consolidating multiple data reports into a concise record for each cancer case
•Including additional treatment and follow-up information after completion of initial abstract
•Entering data into electronic database and transmits all completed cases to New York State
•Communicating with hospital and NYS staff as needed
•Maintaining certification and stays current with information related to cancer registry and treatments
•Adhering to HIPAA regulations and other department policies and procedures
EDUCATION, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION, AND LICENSURE:
Oncology Data Specialist - Certified required. At least five (5) years experience working as an ODS required.
