Ariadne Labs currently has research programs in the areas of childbirth, surgery, palliative care and primary health care.The Role.We are seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Director of Financial Operations and Analytics to join Ariadne Labs, a leading research and innovation center jointly affiliated with Brigham and Women's Hospital and the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. In this role, you will provide strategic guidance and oversee all financial administration, planning, and budgeting functions to ensure the efficient and compliant financial operations of Ariadne Labs.Responsibilities: Act as technical product manager for Workday Adaptive Planning including driving quarterly data entry of sponsored and non-sponsored forecasts, preparation of consolidated financial reports, auditing existing data, and managing relationships with Adaptive consultants. Monitor, analyze, and report on quarterly operating results against budget, identifying areas of concern or improvement and providing strategic recommendations to the management team. Develop, track, and report on financial analytics to aid in the management team in decision making. Operate as internal consultant meeting with program teams to improve research strategy. Direct a comprehensive, multi-year financial planning and budget management function, working closely with program teams, scientific teams, and support services. Collaborate with the management team to develop long-range business plans, establish short- and long-term program and organizational goals, and recommend benchmarks for measuring financial and operating performance. Rationalize parent policies and develop corresponding operating procedures, communicating changes and updates to the organization to ensure compliance and operational efficiency. Develop an expert knowledge of the fiscal systems of both Brigham and Women's Hospital and Harvard University and oversee the budget management function under the two parent systems. Manage lab gift/discretionary/sundry funds, including reporting to funders and ensuring proper utilization and accountability. Provide high-level financial communications and messaging to internal and external stakeholders, ensuring clear and effective dissemination of financial information. Co-lead onboarding, training, and development of finance team members. Lead financial on-boarding for non-finance staff to ensure compliance with policy and create base understanding of parent policy and systems. Develop tools, templates, and guides to streamline processes and improve consistency in departmental financial operations. Manages grants as back-fill. Other duties as assigned. The successful candidate will be an effective communicator, advocating for and creating steam-lined financial processes while maintaining effective controls, and will have strong finance and data analysis skills.QualificationsEducation Requirements - Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience required.Years of Work Experience - 5+ years of related experience required.Preferred Education/Background/Experience - Experience in budget management, particularly in a non-profit setting, preferred.- Intermediate to Advanced-level Excel skills preferred.- Experience with financial systems and data query tools preferred.- Working knowledge of advanced financial administration principles preferred.- Experience in pre/post award grant management preferredSoft Skills Required- Experience with Adaptive Insights preferred.- Strong attention to detail, time management and organizational skills preferred.- Effective written communication, oral communication and presentation skills preferred.- Experience with collaborating effectively with all levels of staff; demonstrated team player preferred.
