The Harry James Group is working with a global leader in technology, who specialize in PV inverter system solutions and energy storage equipment for residential, commercial, and utility-scale PV applications, who are looking to add to their expanding team with Field Engineers in multiple states.

The Position:
This is a very dynamic and fast-track position reporting to the Regional Field Service Supervisor. The position will be the key member of service team. This position will also be the technical point of the contact person to support sales teams for commercial, industrial and utility-scale businesses.
Responsibilities:
– Perform as a lead on more complex field engineering assignments
– Lead the pre-commissioning (with and without grid emulator) and commissioning of solar inverters achieving the milestones agreed with utility scale customers
– Lead Preventive Maintenance projects as needed
– Perform a variety of engineering assignment involving technology applications involved in the installation, operation, testing and maintenance of central solar and BESS inverters.
– Lead electrical and electronic troubleshooting and testing of BESS inverters and its components in the field or in the laboratory. Use of PQA and oscilloscope is required as needed
– Lead troubleshooting teams to investigate BESS/Solar plant issues such as DC arrays grid faults, inverter design issues, and utility grid transients
– Provide feedback to the engineering team on possible mechanical and electrical design improvements
– Lead upgrade projects (software and hardware) in the field and interact with customers to explain the technical scope of the project
– Work with customer SCADA engineers to set-up systems communication and parameters
– Create Field Service procedures for safety troubleshooting, and maintenance
– Lead BETA projects to determine technical issues before the release of a BESS inverter
– Create training material, and provide high level technical training to Field Service
– Research alternative components that can be used in the field
– Coordinate with design engineering on the release
– Supervise other Field Service Engineers and/or service providers to make sure the procedures are follow correctly
– Work independently in the field and with R&D Engineers to resolve high level technical issues, leading the investigation of root cause of for technology applications for complex projects
– Apply knowledge of design specifications for more complex systems/projects
– Coordinate and work closely with other engineering, logistic, financial, and program management disciplines to maintain the BESS/solar plants
– Verify and comply with engineering documentation standards and test procedures
– Prepare, deliver and submit technical papers and perform engineering studies
– Support development of technical proposal and provide comments on the technical content and level of effort of the proposed scope of work
– Conduct site visits, experimental investigations and analyze engineering problems, propose solutions and alterative, and provide recommendations
Minimum Requirements:
– 5 plus years of overall experience in engineering field
– 3 years of experience in solar/BESS inverters
– Must possess the ability to work with test equipment and hand tools as required
– Must possess customer service, problem-solving skills, and possess decision making and analytical skills
– Must possess effective written and verbal communication skills
– Must be able to closely follow instruction and pre-established procedures/SOP to perform the ductions of the job
– Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, power Point and Outlook)
– OSHA, NSPA70A, Electrical Safety
– Have experience and/or certification with MV transformers
Education or Desired License and Certificates:
– Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from accredited university or college
– BESS industry experiences are required
– Power Electronics experience is required
