The Critical Care Ground Emergency Medical Technician-Driver (CCGEMT) is responsible for assisting with or independently providing direct patient care to those individuals assigned to them by the paramedic or registered nurse. Those services shall be provided in a manner that displays compassion, caring and respect. The CCGEMT is responsible for safe ground ambulance transport of interfacility patients, transport crew members, organ procurement teams and medical equipment. The CCGEMT must be effective with communication skills and be able to work positively in a high-stress environment with patients, peers, families and other internal/external personnel. The CCGEMT must also possess excellent interpersonal skills as s/he is instrumental in providing community outreach and education. The CCGEMT is responsible for carrying out the mission and goals of Shands HealthCare/ShandsCair, ensuring that safety remains the highest priority throughout the transport continuum.

**Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:**

* High school diploma or equivalent required.

* Current certification as EMT-B (or higher) in the state of Florida required.

* Specialty certifications required upon hire: BLS.

* 2 years of pre-hospital EMS driving experience required (volunteer service may be considered).

* Must possess a valid Florida driver's license and certification of completion of a Florida-approved Emergency Vehicle Operations driving course (NAPD or EVOC).

* Must be insurable by the hospital insurance carrier.

* Functional understanding of communications equipment, including telephone, radios and recording equipment, desired.

* Some knowledge of navigational terms desired.

**Motor Vehicle Operator Designation:**

Employees in this position will operate vehicles for an assigned business purpose as a "frequent driver."

NOTE: A frequent driver is defined as one who uses his/her personal or Shands automobile a) at least once daily, b) at least five individual trips per week or c) drives, on average, over 150 miles per week in the performance of his/her job.

**Licensure/Certification/Registration:**

* EMT-Basic (or higher) certification in the state of Florida.

**Minimum Pay Rate -** Hourly: $14.70

**Midpoint Pay Rate -** Hourly: $18.15
