Position Overview:


The Critical Care Paramedic for Ground Transport is tasked with the assessment, triage, treatment, and evaluation of patients during interfacility transfers via ground transportation.

This role requires the paramedic to operate independently, adhering to established medical protocols and utilizing advanced skills under the guidance of the medical director.

The paramedic is expected to implement clinical processes to deliver comprehensive patient care and accurately document all actions taken in the patient record.

Serving as a valuable resource, the paramedic will share their expertise and clinical knowledge with fellow team members.

Effective communication skills are essential, as the paramedic must maintain a positive demeanor in high-pressure situations involving patients, colleagues, families, and other healthcare personnel.

Additionally, strong interpersonal skills are vital for engaging in community outreach and educational initiatives.

The paramedic is committed to fulfilling the mission and objectives of UF Health, ensuring that safety remains the top priority throughout the transport process.

As a key member of the ground transport team, the paramedic will lead operations on an Advanced Life Support (ALS) ambulance, responsible for conducting initial patient evaluations and executing advanced life support and critical care procedures for those who are ill or injured. This position also involves supervising and assessing the performance of assigned drivers.

Qualifications:

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Current EMT-Paramedic certification in the State of Florida is mandatory.

Specialty Certifications Required Upon Hire:
BLS; ACLS; PALS. ITLS or PHTLS is preferred at the time of hire and required within one year of employment. A minimum of 2 years of pre-hospital Paramedic experience is required, with demonstrated clinical skills in pre-hospital and critical care transport preferred. CCEMT-P, UFCCP, or FP-C, and NRP certifications are preferred and must be obtained within one year of employment. Instructor certifications in relevant areas are also preferred. A valid Florida Driver's License and proof of completion of a Florida-approved EVOC driving course are required.

Motor Vehicle Operator Designation:

Employees in this Position:
Will operate vehicles for designated business purposes as a 'frequent driver'.

Note:
A frequent driver is defined as an individual who uses their personal or UF Health vehicle a) at least once daily, b) at least five individual trips per week, or c) drives, on average, over 150 miles per week in the performance of their job.

Licensure/Certification/Registration:
