Job Summary

The position of Mechanical/Hardware Engineer operates as a member of a team to design and test all aspects of mechanical equipment and or simulation hardware. This individual will develop, read, and understand technical drawings and documents and be able to translate them into operational mechanisms. The position requires working as part of a team and reports to a manager.
Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks
  1. Leads design efforts of products such as engines, machines, instruments, controls, or robots.
  2. Leads a design team to create design sketches, layouts, and plans.
  3. Uses computer-assisted design (CAD) software to create preliminary and detailed drawings of the product.
  4. Produces specifications for products and chooses raw materials and components to be used in production.
  5. Builds models and prototypes of the product and tests the design.
  6. Studies the test data and makes comparisons with similar designs.
  7. Develops control systems and monitors production.
  8. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
  • Require 5 (five) to 7 (seven) years of experience working as a Mechanical Engineer.
    Completion of a full course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a Bachelor's or higher degree.
Essential Mental Requirements
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills for documentation, intra-team, and interdisciplinary communication.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Capability to interpret data.
Essential Physical Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; sit; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

This is a largely sedentary role; however, some filing is required, which would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool, as necessary.

  • MS Office Suite
  • Computer-Assisted Design software (Solidworks, AutoCad, etc...)
  • Precision measuring devices (calipers, micrometers, etc....)
  • 3D scanning tools
