Summary: The Director of Communications will report directly to EVP of Marketing, Branding and Communications and will be responsible for supporting FirstDay Foundation's strategic communications, media and public relations and overall brand identity for the Foundation and affiliated companies. MBC can best be described as an "ad agency" for the non-profits FirstDay Foundation supports, providing brand awareness initiatives, traditional and digital marketing, internal and external communications, media relations, creative collateral, digital resources (websites, social media, etc.), community relations, advertising and fundraising. Work includes engagement and visibility, locally, regionally, and nationally, to support the mission of each company and of the FirstDay Foundation.
The Director of Communications is highly collaborative, creative, and analytical to support the growth and strategic positioning of the organization's overall brand, storytelling, internal and external communications, media, advertising and special events of the companies we support.
Critical Action Items & Measurable Deliverables:
•Develop and execute communications strategy to support overall growth and brand positioning, leveraging external resources as needed for the companies MBC supports.
•Manage creation, strategy for all internal and external communications, public relations, and stakeholder engagement campaigns.
•Create/Support/Nurture media relationships, coordinate press inquiries, develop talking points, and lead all efforts to stand up rapid response or crisis communications when necessary.
•As appropriate, proactively seek press coverage opportunities in traditional and non-traditional outlets in ways that advance the various company's strategic goals and brand positioning.
•Leverage the Foundation's digital assets, including websites and social media accounts and an internal video network channel to optimize brand awareness, raise resources, and engage various targeted audiences across multiple social platforms.
•Monitor key performance metrics and findings with a focus on maximizing impact on the organizational goals and strategy.
•Ability to coordinate all aspects of special events, press conferences, ribbon cuttings, ground breakings, etc.
•Support fundraising initiatives to include preparing donor campaigns, donor appeals, thank you letters, etc. for the non-profit companies we support that actively fundraise.
•Perform other duties as required or assigned.
Requirements:
•Strong personnel/project management ability.
•Experience designing and executing creative communications strategies that are aligned with organizational goals that are data-driven and analytical, including digital media marketing.
•Relationship building ability and experience, especially with media, agencies and prospective regional, state and national partners. to work both independently and as part of a team, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
•Experience collaborating with a team of professionals to advance strategic goals.
•Superior writing ability, verbal and public speaking communications skills as well as exemplary storytelling capabilities and social media management experience.
•Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
•Proficient in Microsoft Office, database utilization, and adaptable to a range of digital marketing tools.
•Ability to work a flexible schedule, which includes defined business hours Monday through Friday with the potential to support critical projects or initiatives on evenings, weekends, and/or holidays, as needed.
