Employment Specialist I - Western and Northern Service Area Employment Hubs JOB SUMMARY: Employment Specialist I (ES I) assist job seekers with finding employment to ensure long term stability and job retention. They work with job seekers to identify areas of interest, evaluate barriers, and create plans to locate job or career tracks that make sense for the individual. All certificate and program graduates and Employment Services Center (ESC) clients have access to the Employment Specialist for access to Goodwill employer partners and the identification of additional support for continuity in employment. ES I for Employment Hubs also spends time in the local community, building employer partnerships, presenting to local groups and organizations about Goodwill services, and recruiting potential clients into the local ESC for employment services. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: · Assists clients with job searches. Completes assessments, individual employment plans, and conducts interviews with job seekers to determine employability and access to gainful employment opportunities. · Helps job seekers complete resumes, cover letters, and apply for jobs in their chosen area or vocation. · Supports job seekers through use of interviewing techniques and offering opportunities to build skills through Goodwill services and training programs. · Serves as the employment resource to Goodwill Career Pathways Institute (GCPI) program graduates. · Ensures proper documentation is obtained by job seekers for employment which includes but is not limited to driver’s licenses, social security cards and other acceptable forms of identification. · Assists clients with submitting applications to the proper state and local authorities to obtain reissuance of identification documents. · Advocates on behalf of the job seeker with employers including awareness, job interviews, and skill building activities. · Recruits and maintains partner relationships that align with Goodwill certificates and programs. · Hosts training workshops to support job seekers. · Networks with employers to identify job opportunities, navigating serving a vulnerable population, and access to Goodwill Career Fairs, attending both Goodwill and community career fairs to work on behalf of job seekers. · Maintains data for clients served and reports that data to supervisor when requested. Reports will include but not be limited to weekly reports, monthly reports, and any other additional information as requested. · Maintains SNAP workbook, contact with SNAP, and follow-up with SNAP recipients to provide resources. Places follow-up calls and case management with SNAP recipients. · Links to COWIB and clients with this agency. Serves as the contact with COWIB and attends the agency on Goodwill’s behalf. · Maintains CARF records pertinent to the accreditation on behalf of Employment Services CARF Standard 2.D. · Reviews, discusses, explains, and adjusts the client’s employment goals as needed. · Refer all qualified job seekers to other partner agencies for wrap around support services. · Maintains accurate records and data for all clients served in CaseWorthy (client management system) and in spreadsheets. · Attends meetings as requested and can provide a detailed, up to date report on the job seekers’ current progress towards their employment goals. · Maintains consistent contact with caseload to ensure employment success. · Coordinates and offers training on the mobile or at the Mobile Unit as needed. · Other duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR CONSIDERATION: · Associates required; bachelor’s degree preferred. · Experience in job development for individuals with multiple barriers to employment is a plus. · Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with other team members. · Proficient in MS Office Suite including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Google Apps, and Outlook as well as able to navigate the internet with ease. · Clean driving record. Must have driver’s license and valid insurance. · Must be able to successfully complete and maintain CPR and 1st Aid Training.
