The Account Manager is responsible for management and retention of the largest and most complex Health and Welfare accounts. Serves as the primary point of contact for external customer relationships.

Collaborates with Functional Management to establish segment strategy. Understands and meets all strategic initiatives and goals within segment, working collaboratively with segment team. Accountable for development and execution of sales strategy for all assigned labor accounts. Provides strategic consultation for multiple segments to develop initiatives and best practices to support execution of strategy. Mentors other associates in sales techniques and strategic thinking, to increase their competitive & industry knowledge. Provides consultative approach to all assigned Health and Welfare funds. Performs analysis and review of account utilization and trends. Provides client-based solutions and recommendations, including specialized plans, on how to reduce medical management costs and lessen medical cost ratio for clients. Builds effective relationships which maximize retention and sales opportunities. Responsible for developing strategic and consultative presentations of products to assigned funds and prospects. Provides professional presentations and/or open enrollments (where applicable) to a variety of audiences in various settings. Develops and executes proactive, creative and ongoing account initiatives which enhance/maximize sales opportunities. Responsible for on-going account management, including renewals, settlements, proposals, benefit exceptions and customer reporting (where applicable). Understands and effectively communicates rating alternatives and funding arrangements. Identifies trends and ensures that all sales and account related issues are addressed. Works with sales team and sales support team to achieve issue resolution Actively demonstrates comprehensive understanding of products, the competitive environment, and the industry. Must maintain active sales license for position.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Risk Management, Marketing or a related field or equivalent work experience. Minimum 7 years’ work experience in health insurance or related industry in sales/marketing, where building relationships and retaining customers is essential. Excellent oral and written communication skills required. Demonstrated experience developing and facilitating presentations. Demonstrated experience functioning in a in a high-volume, highly visible, deadline-oriented environment. Knowledge of IBX products, services, and administration required, as well as a broad understanding of rating methodologies. Demonstrated experience with the MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) as well as CRM packages, such as ROAM required. Strong strategic and analytical skills as well as strong presentation skills. Excellent customer and consultant relationship skills. Effective interpersonal skills, able to work collaboratively with functional areas within segment. Self-motivated and goal oriented. Flexibility in a variety of settings and ability to work under pressure. Able to work independently with drive to excel. Candidates must possess active PA State Accident & Health license or obtained within 60 days of hire into position. Candidates must have a valid driver’s license and a reliable car and must have a cell phone. Out of area travel is required for this position.
