The Systems Engineer will play a crucial role in the design, implementation, and maintenance of our organization's IT infrastructure. This role will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the reliability, scalability, and security of our systems. This role will bring expertise in both traditional on-premises and cloud-based environments.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities (Other duties may be assigned)
- System Design: Design, implement, and maintain IT infrastructure solutions based on business requirements, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance.
- Server Administration: Administer Windows and Linux servers, including installation, configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting to ensure optimal performance and availability.
- Virtualization and Cloud Computing: Manage virtualized environments using VMware, Hyper-V, or similar technologies. Deploy and manage cloud services on platforms such as Azure or AWS.
- Security Implementation: Implement and maintain security measures, to protect the organization's data and systems from threats based on direction from the Security Team.
- Backup and Disaster Recovery: Develop and implement backup and disaster recovery plans to ensure the integrity and availability of critical data and systems in the event of a disaster or system failure.
- Monitoring and Performance Tuning: Monitor system performance and identify areas for optimization. Implement performance tuning strategies to improve system efficiency and reliability.
- Documentation and Knowledge Sharing: Create and maintain detailed documentation of IT systems, configurations, and procedures. Share knowledge and best practices with team members to enhance overall technical expertise.
- Collaboration and Support: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, network engineers, cybersecurity specialists, and vendors to support IT initiatives and resolve technical issues promptly.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution or equivalent professional experience.
- 3 years experience in Windows environments as a systems' administrator/engineer.
- Experience in installing, configuring and troubleshooting Microsoft based environments.
- Solid experience in the administration and performance tuning of Microsoft application stacks.
- Solid Cloud experience, preferably in Azure and AWS.
- Experience with virtualization utilizing VMWare.
- Experience with monitoring systems (i.e., Solarwinds)
- Solid power shell scripting skills.
- Solid networking knowledge (OSI network layers, TCP/IP)
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
- The office environment requires the use of standard office equipment and personal computers.
- Computer Science, Information Technology.
- 5+ years of experience in Windows environments as a systems' administrator/engineer.
