Key Responsibilities
DISH Network is seeking a Senior Spacecraft Engineer to manage, support, and execute Telemetry, Tracking, and Command (TT&C) operations, as well as spacecraft subsystem functions. This role includes:
- Assessing spacecraft performance and troubleshooting subsystem operations to enhance service quality and prolong mission duration.
- Maintaining situational awareness of spacecraft and broadcast operations, aligning with company goals and industry advancements.
- Providing guidance and support to spacecraft controllers during operational tasks.
- Offering 24/7 engineering support on a rotating schedule, addressing anomalies, guiding controllers, and facilitating resolution efforts.
- Creating, reviewing, and optimizing operational procedures and tools essential for safe and efficient activities.
- Planning and executing complex payload reconfigurations to enhance broadcast operations.
- Engaging in new spacecraft development initiatives and conducting ground testing to validate design requirements.
- Analyzing spacecraft performance trends over both short and long-term periods.
- Establishing monitoring standards for all spacecraft subsystems.
- Overseeing spacecraft maneuvers and preparing long-term orbital strategies.
- Researching and developing training materials to meet operational requirements.
- Collaborating on projects involving multiple subsystems or functional areas.
Work Environment
This position requires a business casual dress code and is situated adjacent to a 24/7 operations center. The role typically operates Monday through Friday during standard business hours, with the necessity to support on-call duties during off-hours, weekends, and holidays.
Qualifications
Education: A Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physics, or mathematics from an accredited institution.
Experience: A minimum of 6 years of experience in spacecraft engineering within the satellite industry.
Skills:
- Must be a U.S. Person due to access requirements for export-restricted materials.
- Ability to respond to on-call duties within 30 minutes.
- Strong mathematical skills, including proficiency in calculus and statistical analysis.
- Experience with spacecraft systems such as Attitude Control, Propulsion, and Thermal Management is preferred.
- Excellent communication skills for conveying technical concepts to diverse audiences.
Compensation
The salary range for this position is between $125,000 and $155,000 annually, with a comprehensive benefits package that includes health perks, retirement plans, and flexible time-off options.
