Raymond West is seeking a dynamic Parts Specialist to join our team The Parts Specialist is responsible for taking calls from external customers, technicians, and work with vendors, when necessary, on over-the-counter parts sales. This position must have a strong sense of urgency in responding to customer needs and at the same time being concerned with maintaining inventory, costs, and quality control.

Our customers trust us to provide the right supply chain solutions and services to keep their business up and running.

Duties and Responsibilities

Primary duties and responsibilities will vary with the specific position. Typical responsibilities are listed below. This list is not inclusive.

  • Accepts telephone, email and counter orders for external customers and Company technicians, fills orders from stock.
  • Research replacement parts using parts manual, computer listings or microfiche as appropriate
  • Discusses use and features of various parts.
  • Fills customer orders from stock or by special order. Orders parts for stock replenishment.
  • Advises customer on substitution or modification of part when replacement is not available.
  • Updates customers regarding the status of backordered parts in an acceptable time frame.
  • Prepares Sales Orders for invoicing, receives payment, obtains credit authorization when necessary.
  • Participate in general inventories and cycle counts as necessary
  • Initiate proper documentation to maintain accurate inventory and sales records.
  • Work with and support other Parts Sales Specialists regarding the sale of material handling equipment.
  • Handles telephone calls, customer counter, and promotes overall sales.
  • Assist Parts Sales Representatives with order entry, consignment replenishments and consignment maintenance.
  • Distribute and explain Raymond Corporation Service and Parts Bulletins to other parts staff.
  • Assist at back counter and in Stockroom as directed or as needed; press tires as needed.
  • Actively participate in Parts Department training and meetings.
  • Perform various duties directly or indirectly associated with parts sales activity as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent Organizational Time Management skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft office Suite and similar software
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Must be able to maintain effective working relationships with employees, Co-workers, and Managers in other departments
  • Must be willing to work off-hours as specific needs dictate and willing to assume more responsibility as required’
  • Must be able to fulfill essential job function in a consistent state of alertness and safe manner

  • Possess a general understanding of, and familiarity with, machine parts and their functions.

  • Willing to support all phases of the department and company as needed.
  • Able to perform duties under minimal supervision, adjust to changes and demonstrate drive and initiative.

  • Knowledgeable in interpretation of parts manual and computer programs.
  • Must be capable of learning all phases of the Parts Department operation with the desire to increase their responsibility as the need develops.
  • Willing to work off-hours as specific needs dictate.
  • Present a neat, professional appearance at all times.
  • Maintain an organized and tidy work area.
  • Be able to manage time effectively.
  • Maintain a professional attitude in all matters.
  • Willing and able to learn quickly and perform accurately and neatly with a degree of flexibility.

Education/Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Position is non-Sedentary
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • The position will require employees to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee is occasionally required to smell.
  • Position requires the employee to climb/balance/stoop/kneel/crouch and crawl
  • The employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions and the risk of electrical shock.
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold; extreme heat; and vibration.
  • The noise level in the work environment is sometimes loud.

Parts Specialists may need to run parts to other locations and must be able to be insured by Raymond West and must be able to pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen.
