Position Summary

The Technical Service Engineer is a key member of Curbell Plastics' Business Development team reporting to the Director of Business Development. This individual is responsible for providing technical support to Curbell Plastics' employees. Additional responsibilities include participating in thought leadership activities to build Curbell's brand in the marketplace and authoring technical content for marketing communications and training.

Essential Functions

Technical Support. Responsible for assisting Curbell Plastics employees and customers with plastic material selection and plastic part design. Also responsible for troubleshooting plastic part failures. Technical support is accomplished via phone and online communications channels as well as via customer visits when the opportunity is large enough to justify on-site meetings.

Technical Thought Leadership and Content Development. Responsible for authoring technical content for marketing communications. Additional duties include participating in online community discussion groups such as LinkedIn, web blogs, webinars, and other customer-facing online forums pertaining to plastic materials and plastic part design. Must occasionally travel to customer sites and or trade association meetings to deliver technical seminars.

Non-Standard Materials and Fabricated Parts Sourcing. Duties include collaborating with Curbell's Purchasing team and with the Fabricated Parts Manager to source non-standard materials and fabricated parts. This involves developing and maintaining a network of suppliers who can fulfill customer requirements for these products.

Technical Specification Review. Responsible for reviewing customer requests for conformance to specifications including ASTM, SAE AMS, and military specifications. Also responsible for collaborating with Curbell's EH&S and Legal departments to review customer requests for other types of compliance documentation such as FDA, ISO, and RoHS.

Training. Duties include collaborating with Curbell's Training department to design and deliver technical training for Curbell Plastics employees.
