Senior Program Specialist-SCC Recycling Education

CSET's Sequoia Community Corps is seeking a highly motivated individual to provide recycling education outreach to community members. The right candidate will be able to work in a high-functioning environment with a diverse population. The Recycling Education team is responsible for providing recycling education presentations to school-aged children and community members. They also attend community events and perform a variety of other duties related to recycling. The ideal candidate will have experience in marketing, and mentoring young adults 18-26, and will be a team player with a can-do attitude. Strong communication, writing, time management, and comprehension skills are a must. Must be able to work with little to no supervision and be eligible to be added to the agency's vehicle insurance.

SCOPE OF WORK:

The purpose of this position is to provide community members with Recycling Education in accordance with CalRecycle standards. The incumbent of this position is responsible for meeting program milestones for the Recycling Education Program. This position is responsible for conducting recycling education presentations, participating in community events, completing dock walk events, used oil signage reviews, and is also responsible for the development and mentorship of the Recycling Education Specialists (Corpsmembers).

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Plan and execute activities that support CalRecycle standards including recycling education on California Refund Value (CRV), used oil, waste tires, e-waste, and used mattress recycling
  • Plan, schedule and organize recycling education presentations for K-12 students at schools and community events
  • Maintain positive relationships with school administrators and key event personnel
  • Provide community outreach regarding recycling and environmental issues
  • Plan, develop, set up, and service CRV recycling containers during special events and other functions where CRV material may be collected
  • Ability to present Department of Recycling (DOR) CRV services to businesses, other organizations, and the general public
  • Participate in Dock Walk events
  • Complete used oil signage reviews
  • Meet quarterly milestones for CalRecycle grant
  • Keep abreast of all CalRecycle, and local municipality trends, requirements, and regulations
  • Help create positive crew morale, build teamwork, and develop Corpsmembers technical and soft skills
  • Create schedules for Corpsmembers in accordance with required training hours, and overtime policies
  • Manage and direct Corpsmember duties
  • Ability to manage and maintain daily schedules and accurate records
  • Maintain supply cages in tidy fashion and keep accurate records of inventory
  • Maintain equipment in clean and good working condition
  • Provide regular reporting to Program Coordinator on program milestones
  • Practice safety at assigned work site(s) by following the CSET and State Safety Standards
  • Performs other duties including but not limited to fulfillment of work schedules, adherence to attendance policies, and other applicable operating rules, policies, and procedures

  • Knowledge of local business market and recycling standards.
  • Possess excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Possess in-depth knowledge of all aspects of the various company programs and the ability to communicate policy information in a clear and detailed manner.
  • Ability to work effectively with minimal/no supervision
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in written form
  • Ability to speak, read, and write in Spanish is preferred but not required
  • Ability to maintain a clean driving record with no infractions
  • Must maintain ability to remain on CSET's vehicle insurance policy
