Position Overview: The Technical Manager for the Roofing SBU is a hands-on, pivotal role responsible for managing technical operations encompassing; Codes and Approvals, Product Development and Testing, Project and Documentation Management, and Industry Engagement and Innovation. This role ensures that our roofing products not only meet industry standards and regulatory compliance but also exceed customer expectations. By fostering innovation and driving strategic initiatives, this position collaborates closely with the Director of Low-slope Roofing to align with the SBU's objectives and strategy.

Primary Responsibilities

1. Codes and Approvals:

  • Monitor, interpret, and ensure adherence to all relevant building codes and regulations.
  • Work closely with internal teams to align products with current standards and contribute to the development of new standards, embedding compliance considerations into all product development phases.
  • Ensure compliance with all code body audits: ensure audit manuals are current and accurate, all audit non-compliances are addressed and that all audits are conducted as required.
  • Development of product and technical standards through industry organizations, reinforcing the company’s market position.

2. Product Development and Testing:

  • Oversee the entire process of approvals, testing, and certification for roofing products, from initial concept to market release.
  • Lead material development initiatives, ensuring that new products undergo rigorous testing for compliance and performance.

3. Project and Documentation Management:

  • Maintain and manage comprehensive records of all technical documentation, including codes, approvals, compliance documentation, and R&D findings.
  • Prepare detailed reports and updates on project progress, compliance status, and R&D efforts, ensuring effective communication within the organization.

4. Industry Engagement and Innovation:

  • Act as the company's technical representative in industry associations, contributing expertise and insights that align with our business strategy.
  • Stay abreast of industry developments to drive innovation and maintain our competitive edge in low-slope roofing solutions.

5. Training and Field Services Management:

  • Direct comprehensive training programs for internal teams and manage/perform field services to bolster product performance and customer satisfaction.
  • Oversee quality assurance and warranty administration, to enforce and uphold technical standards

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Material Science, or related field.

- At least 5 years of experience in a technical management role within the roofing or building materials industry.

- In-depth knowledge of roofing materials, building codes, and regulatory standards.

- Proven experience with product development, material testing, and certification processes.

- Strong project management, documentation, and cross-functional team leadership skills.

- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities.

- Demonstrated capacity to engage in industry associations and drive R&D initiatives.
