As an Assurance Technical Trainer, you will play a pivotal role in equipping our assurance professionals with the technical skills and knowledge essential for excellence in their roles. This position involves designing, delivering, and evaluating training programs while also facilitating mock audits across various verticals within the organization. Your expertise in assurance principles, coupled with your ability to develop engaging training content and conduct practical exercises, will be instrumental in enhancing the competency and performance of our assurance team.

This position is part of Cohen & Company's Talent Development Team and reports to the Senior Manager, Talent Development (Assurance). There will be 4-6 weeks per year where travel for multi-day training events will be required. This is typically in August, September, October, November.We are open to this position being in at any of our office locations listed below, in a hybrid setting or remote.

Responsibilities:
  • Curriculum Development: Collaborate with subject matter experts to develop comprehensive training programs covering various technical aspects of assurance work, including auditing techniques, risk assessment methodologies, regulatory compliance, and industry best practices.
  • Training Delivery: Conduct interactive training sessions using diverse methods such as workshops, seminars, webinars, and online courses. Utilize the LC Vista Learning Management System to deliver and manage training content effectively, ensuring accessibility and engagement for participants.
  • Mock Audit Development and Facilitation: Organize and lead Level 1 mock audits for each vertical within the organization. With subject-matter experts, develop scenarios and case studies tailored to simulate real-world audit situations, ensuring participants gain practical experience and proficiency in diverse business environments.
  • Annual Training and Vertical-Specific Training: Collaborate with Senior Manager, Talent Development, Vertical Training Leads, firm leaders and subject matter experts to ensure training content reflects industry regulations, sector-specific risks, and common audit challenges throughout the year.
  • Stay Updated: Keep abreast of developments in the assurance field, including regulatory changes, emerging trends, and new technologies. Incorporate relevant updates into training materials and sessions to ensure our team remains informed and well-prepared.
  • Collaboration: Work closely other departments such as People & Culture and Quality Control to align training initiatives with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of training activities, including attendance, evaluations, and feedback. Generate reports summarizing training outcomes and recommendations for future enhancements.
  • Talent Development: Work collaboratively with a one-firm mindset to support the Talent Development team in operations, special initiatives such as M&A, NASBA-compliance, eLearning development, intern and new hire onboarding, and training for other service lines as necessary.


Qualifications:

Qualificaitons:

  • Bachelors degree in accounting or a related field. A masters degree preferred.
  • CPA license required.
  • 4-6 years experience in assurance/audit in a public accounting firm, with a strong understanding of technical principles and methodologies.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Effective time and project management skills to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Additional Skills:

  • Ability to deliver engaging and interactive training sessions to diverse audiences, including large groups and individual learners.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address technical challenges, resolve issues, and assist trainees in overcoming obstacles.
  • Ability to work as a consultant to subject matter experts, departmental leaders, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment of training initiatives with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Ability to synthesize formal and informal data from trainings, meetings, evaluations, and feedback, to define learning objectives and department-wide learning needs.
  • Previous experience in designing and delivering training programs, preferably in a corporate or professional services environment.
  • Experience working with Learning Management Systems, preferably LC Vista, to deliver and manage training content.
