Position Description:

The Major Gifts Officer oversees a donor portfolio, securing impactful gifts exceeding $5,000. In close collaboration with the development team, the MGO leads major donor fundraising initiatives, monitors progress, and innovates to diversify revenue streams. This proactive approach fortifies the organization's funding base, maximizing support for its mission and initiatives.

Job Responsibilities:

Collaborate with the Senior Director of Development to establish a comprehensive major gifts program, leveraging various revenue streams including cash contributions, planned giving options, and stock donations. Manage a portfolio of 75-100 qualified donors, focusing on securing transformational gifts of $5,000 and above. Work with the Development Team to set and track progress towards strategic goals and objectives. Coordinate with the Individual Giving Manager to maintain a donor pipeline from individual giving to major gifts. Develop fundraising materials and reports, ensuring alignment with organizational messaging. Conduct 20 meaningful contacts with donors monthly, creating tailored communication and marketing and outreach plans for each. Lead research on prospective major donors, preparing comprehensive donor briefings. Organize fundraising events to strengthen donor relationships and raise funds. Facilitate regular prospect meetings with the Senior Director of Development to review donors and plan next steps. Maintain detailed records of donor interactions and track solicitation amounts and pledges in Salesforce. Assist in the development of annual fundraising plans and budgets. Design and implement donor recognition programs. Represent the organization at fundraising conferences and networking events. Ensure compliance with state and federal fundraising regulations and ethical standards. Provide excellent customer service to donors, meeting their needs and expectations. Engage in professional development to stay current with industry trends. Perform additional duties as assigned. Job Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 5 years of nonprofit fundraising experience, including at least 2 years specifically in major gifts fundraising. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. In-depth understanding of fundraising best practices, standards, and ethics. Strong relational abilities with excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, keen attention to detail, and the capability to prioritize tasks, think independently, and solve problems effectively. Proven ability to engage and respond professionally to a diverse range of stakeholders, particularly major donors. Deep passion for the organization's mission. Demonstrated success in and appreciation for cross-team collaboration. Proficiency with Salesforce is a plus.
