Overview:
- A major hospital system in Philadelphia is seeking a Clinical Pharmacy Technician to join the hospital's research pharmacy. This group is in charge of safely and responsibly handling investigational drugs used in clinical trials. They maintain control and accountability of investigation drugs used in these studies and promote patient safety. Investigational drugs are procured, stored, inventoried, dispensed, and used through this group in compliance with regulations, FDA guidelines, and the Pennsylvania State Board of Pharmacy. This is a great opportunity for a recent science graduate looking to gain clinical experience
- Assist medical and nursing personnel with order entry.
- Repackaging (e.g. bottles, cartons, boxes).
- Compliance packaging (e.g. blister cards, unit-of-use containers, special labeling).
- Sterile compounding or manufacturing (products for human injection or infusion using purified non-sterile ingredients).
- Dose adjustment (may include sham adjustments of placebo doses, ordering and evaluation of blood tests, etc., to maintain blinding for rest of study team).
- Research of protocol-related questions using various drug information references.
- Meet with study team as needed.
- Meet with sponsor and sponsor's representatives to review protocol and records.
- Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED required.
- B.S strongly preferred.
- PTCB certification preferred.
- At least 2+ years of pharmacy technician experience (ideally in a hospital or infusion setting).
- Compounding experience (sterile or non-sterile).
- FDA inspections and filling prescriptions.
- Alternating between 7am-3:30pm, 8am-4:30pm, 9am-5:30pm. As of right now, weekend shifts are being filled by employees that are willing to work them.
