About The Position
The Transmission Business Development Manager is responsible for supporting the development of projects, overall business management of those projects, and contributes to the implementation of strategies to grow the transmission business through investments in transmission assets that enhance reliability and system economics and provide appropriate shareholder returns. The position coordinates activities to provide competitive proposals in response to transmission project solicitations, as well as the activities necessary to develop unsolicited proposals anywhere in North America which will benefit stakeholders and shareholders.. This role reports to the Director of Business Development for Ameren Services on behalf of all of Ameren's Transmission owning Companies.
Key responsibilities include:
Support the pursuit, identification and commercial development of opportunities associated with transmission or other areas as identified.
Support discussions and activities related to strategic partnerships or joint ventures.
Conduct all aspects of business development including market analysis, commercial negotiation, economic evaluation, internal approval and regulatory certification.
Work with transmission planning to identify innovative solutions for new transmission projects that address regional objectives.
Support the internal project approval process, working with the CPOC, Risk Management and other internal groups from project inception through construction.
Support the coordination of all aspects of commercial development including system design, engineering, construction, operations, system control, accounting, regulatory, and legal.
Support the negotiation of contracts and amendments.
Meet with customers on a regular basis to understand customer’s ongoing business needs.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, engineering, finance or related fields from an accredited college or university required; MBA preferred. Minimum five years of experience working in transmission planning, transmission systems engineering or transmission business development is required. Some experience working with organized and RTO markets is preferred. Experience developing projects (preferably in the energy industry) is preferred.

Proven ability to participate in RTO market framework; demonstrated ability to shape RTO policy, preferred.
Proven Project Management experience.
