This person will interact directly with customers and a team of Wunderlich-Malec engineers and drafters in identifying electrical requirements, developing specifications, 480 VAC system and MCC design, designing and overseeing panel fabrication and FATs, managing site electrical contractor, and testing installations.The engineer researches systems ideas and draws up plans for power and control at 480 VAC and below, including instrumentation and control devices. The engineer is responsible for reviewing and developing system specifications and drawing packages. The engineer conducts factory tests as needed. In addition, they provide support throughout the manufacturing and commissioning of the electrical and control systems they have designed including installation and wiring, check-out support, and commissioning/qualification.Ideally, the candidate is also interested and experienced with PLC or DCS programming, HMI/SCADA programming, network design, and/or IT/OT equipment.Major ResponsibilitiesResponsible for 480 VAC designs and drawings including motor branch circuits, power distribution and transformation, MCC design and specification, and electrical equipment specification.Responsible for hazardous area design including Class I Div. 1 and Div. 2 code and design requirements.Instrument specification, wiring, troubleshooting, and calibration.Develops schematics detailing control system configuration and wiring, and design equipment panel layouts. This effort includes the ability to architect and specify control system designs and give work direction to technicians creating the drawingsKnowledge of the NEC and associated national, state, and local code requirementsWork at customer sites to perform the system checkout and start-up of electrical, instrumentation, and control systemsDevelop the final record system documentation and provide system training to the customerIndividual will be working on electrical and control system integration projects for clients across multiple industries including life sciencesMust have a diverse engineering skill set with the ability to work independently. Should be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously. May act as Technical Lead or Project Manager on smaller projects ranging from $50K to $250K. This includes but is not limited to:Develops and executes implementation plans for the projectAssigns work to meet overall project deadlinesEnsures that all project team members clearly understand the scope of W-M responsibilitiesDevelops schedules for W-M and customer requirementsEvaluate progress on projects and details changesResponsible for all purchasing and subcontractor requirementsResponsible for the development of costs and proposal of change orders to contract scopeMinimum RequirementsEducationA Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering Technology or equivalent experience is required.Interest in progressing to a PE license is preferred.ExperienceFour to ten years' of experience with capabilities in below areas:Preparation of electrical, instrumentation, and PLC control panel specifications for purchase of materials and equipment and/or the solicitations of labor.Experience in design of electrical schematics, including power distribution 480VAC and underExperience in the installation, checkout, and commissioning of electrical, instruments, and control systemsKnowledge of the NEC and associated national, state and local code requirements; includes hazardous area requirementsFamiliar with construction, installation, maintenance, support, documentation, and testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and customer requirementsFamiliar with construction and installation standards and specifications for use by electrical contractorsDocument and organize projects according to established procedures using various tools including computer software such as CAD, Excel, and Visual ManufacturingReview of fabricator and external design drawings, documentation and fabrication sequenceProvide cost estimates for electrical controls according to established guidelinesMonitor status and ensure delivery of project deliverables within budgeted cost and scheduleExperience in industries such as Life Sciences, Building Automation, Food and Beverage, Oil & Gas and MiningStrong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills needed.
