Job Summary

The grant award specialist will be responsible for identifying, developing, researching, and facilitating major grant proposals that are to be submitted to acquire external funding from federal, state, and local agencies, corporations, foundations and other funding sources, and subsequently oversee awarded grant projects awards throughout the complete grant lifecycle. This position will disseminate and coordinate grant funding information on the system level and manage the cultivation of successful applications as directed.

Responsibilities
• Identify and monitor potential funding opportunities and serve as a primary resource for grant information. • Develop, manage, and evaluate business plan to increase grant funding as assigned. • Prioritize funding-selection sequencing, based on strategic plan needs. • Assure pre award grant objectives are met accurately and timely to include but not limited to: o Serves as the administrative resource for grant inquiries both externally and internally. o Prepares, and negotiates awards and subawards in conjunction with project manager and funder.o Serves as a grant writer as needed. o Provides guidance to project directors on compliance related matters.o Supports project director with information gathering, technical & business proposal assistance, support (development to submission) of proposal/applications for externally submitted grants applications. o Ensure submission of letter of intent or applications within established time limits of funding sources. o Review, evaluate, and make recommendations of grant application, for Executive Director approval. • Assure award and post award grant objectives are met accurately and timely to include but not limited to:o Review and approves grant expenditures for compliance with executed agreement and 2 CFR 200 allowable expenditures for federal awards.o Ensure that all guidelines from sponsors are adhered to by the system. o Monitor active grant awards and subawards for accurate and timely spend. o Monitors subrecipient compliance with applicable Federal, state and local regulations.o Meet routinely with Project Directors to review grant status and plan for accurate and timely spend.o Coordinate & execute any required grant budget amendments.o Provide grant project reports to project directors monthly.o Actively participates in regulatory reviews and audits as required.o Provide management reports to Executive Director as directed.• Assure closeout grant objectives are met accurately and timely to include but not limited to:o Coordinate with project director to assure timely spend (prior to end of performance period).o Monitor grants that are past the period of performance to assure full spend and/or refund is completed.o Assure that all required close out reports are filed timely & accurately with funders.o Collaborate with Grant Finance Specialist to assure timely close out of grant upon end of performance period to include:• Assuring zero balance on grant project account• Assure grant project account number is inactivated.• Maintains electronic records of all grants in an organized, systematic manner.• Create, monitor, and distribute reports as required by the Executive Director.• Participate in development, coordinating and presenting grant kickoff meetings, workshops, etc.• Maintain department web site for accurate and timely communication.Other Information From Job: (This is the same for all positions and cannot be changed)Patient Group Knowledge (Only applies to positions with direct patient contact)The employee must possess/obtain (by the end of the orientation period) and demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide developmentally appropriate assessment, treatment or care as defined by the department's identified patient ages.Specifically, the employee must be able to demonstrate competency in: 1) ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of patient needs; 2) knowledge of growth and development; and 3) understanding of the range of treatment needed by the patients. SKILLS: • Excellent attention to detail working accurately and efficiently under time constraints.• Ability to mentor grant team members.• Motivated self-starter that can work and complete tasks with little supervision.• Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a remote office setting.• Proficiency with grant software, spreadsheets and data management systems required. • Must have effective verbal and written communication skills.• Ability to develop and build relationships both internally with peers, as well as externally, with funders, etc.• Impeccable ability to prioritize tasks, contribute to a healthy, productive work environment, and follow through on duties as assigned.• Problem solving skills, to include root cause analysis and through resolution.• Ability to interrupt and apply 2 CFR 200 (Uniform Guidance), contracts, etc.COMPETENCIES:• Knowledge, 2 CFR 200 (Uniform Guidance)• Knowledge of federal, state, and private grant regulation.The ideal candidate is a self-motivated professional with extensive experience managing grants throughout the project life cycle with internal and external peers.At least 5 years demonstrated experience in similar positions preparing, processing, negotiating, and managing awards and subawards for a variety of agencies such as NIH, HRSA, etc.
