Job Overview

The Financial Reporting Manager is responsible for the financial statements and regulatory reports of the credit union. The Financial Reporting Manager also ensures compliance with accounting standards, policies, and procedures.

Major Responsibilities
  • Plans, streamlines, and monitors timelines to meet strict deadlines in internal and external reporting regulations. Prepares and maintains documentation of current system process flows, procedures, rules and report requirements. Assists internal management in compiling, researching and analyzing data for various reporting requirements including board of directors, management, regulatory and internal/external audit. Must ensure compliance with GAAP, NCUA, and other applicable accounting and regulatory standards while maintaining accounting policies and procedures and internal controls.
  • Prepares, examines, and analyzes accounting records, financial statements, or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards. Reports to management regarding the finances of the Credit Union.
  • Maintains the credit unions Current Estimated Credit Losses ("CECL") model.
  • Works with the Director of Enterprise Risk to populate financial information for quarterly ERM report.
  • Administrates call report software and prepares/reviews quarterly call reports.
  • Provides support to the accounting staff when needed. Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
  • Works with auditors/examiners on year-end and comprehensive audits.
  • Writes and maintains policies and procedures for the Accounting Department such as ALM and Liquidity.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
  • Five years to eight years of similar or related experience.
  • (1) A bachelor's degree, or (2) achievement of formal certifications recognized in the industry as equivalent to a bachelor's degree (e.g., certifications in lieu of a degree). A degree in Finance or Accounting is preferred. CPA certification or equivalent is highly desired.
  • Work involves extensive personal contact with others and is of a personal or sensitive nature. Motivating, influencing, and/or training others is key at this level. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary and often requires the ability to influence and/or sell ideas or services to others.
  • Minimum of 5 years increasing responsibility/experience in an accounting environment with at least 3 years of experience in financial reporting, preferably in the credit union or banking industry.
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and practices and possess ability to prepare, read, and interpret financial statements.
  • Strong knowledge of GAPP, NCUA, and other accounting and regulatory standards.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal, communication, analytical, and problem solving skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite to include Excel, Teams, Outlook, SharePoint, and Word. Working experience with accounting software such as DOMO, FiServ DNA, and Prologue is preferred.
  • Possess ability to operate PC and related software, calculator, and other related office equipment with good speed and accuracy.
  • Time management and prioritization of tasks are a must in addition to meeting deadlines, attention to detail, and accuracy.
  • Physical qualifications include sitting at a computer/workstation for extended periods of time and being able to lift/carry up to 10 pounds.
