Position Summary We are seeking a Senior Accountant to act as an integral component of the Accounting Operations team. Responsible for the compilation and analysis of information for Oncourse Home Solutions and the maintenance of a complete and accurate subledger & general ledger. Will also provide reporting support and other services to various departments (Payroll, Accounts Receivable, Accounting, Financial Planning and Analysis, Tax and External Audit) and monitor the operation of core activities to ensure key business risks are being managed appropriately and an effective internal control environment is achieved. Increase awareness of internal controls and recommend enhancements to business processes and internal controls. Located at our office in Naperville, IL. our office environment is a key driver of our company culture and employee experience, so a regular in-office hybrid model (generally T-TH in office and M & F remote) is required. Responsibilities Prepare journal entries and assist in the facilitation of the monthly close process for cash, payroll and benefit items. Analyze financial results and variances, ensuring completeness and accuracy of the general ledger and subledgers. Perform key account analyses and reconciliations, including the timely investigation and resolution of discrepancies and reconciling items. Participate in the annual audits and coordination with the external auditors. Interface/liaise with the Payroll/Comp, Accounts Receivable, Financial Planning and Analysis, Accounting, Accounts Payable, and Tax, providing information for accounting and reporting matters and assistance in interpreting and analyzing financial results related to cash, including payment gateway and payroll/benefits. Assist with special projects and initiatives to optimize the effectiveness of existing business applications, technologies, and systems and to build efficiencies/improvements into current business processes. Assist in the refinement and maintenance of the accounting/financial policies, practices, internal controls, and operating procedures to ensure the integrity of the Company’s internal control structure. Monitor / reconcile credit card / ACH payments processed through merchant account with bank deposits and Accounts Receivable customer transactions. Facilitate payroll/ benefit plan invoices and payments. We're Excited if This is You. Experience and Qualifications of the Role 3+ years of Public Accounting or 5+ years Corporate Accounting experience Strong knowledge of auditing and internal controls. Knowledge of U.S. GAAP and the ability to apply principles and practices to accounting matters. Knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word), with a particular expertise in advanced Microsoft Excel functionalities (i.e., pivot tables, VLOOKUP's, SUMIFs, etc.) a strong preference. Strong written and oral communication skills with proven ability to interact effectively with internal customers, management, and external professionals (i.e., auditors). Excellent analytical, systemic, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to work in teams or effectively work independently.
