This role is crucial to ensuring sustainable and efficient water management solutions that enhance the safety and longevity of transportation projects. What You Will Do: Design and Analysis: Develop and design drainage systems for transportation projects, including highways, roads, and bridges. Conduct hydrologic and hydraulic analyses to support project designs. Utilize software tools such as HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SWMM, and AutoCAD Civil 3D for design and analysis. Project Management: Manage and coordinate drainage projects from conception to completion. Prepare project plans, specifications, and cost estimates. Ensure projects comply with local, state, and federal regulations and standards. Collaboration and Coordination: Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including civil engineers, environmental scientists, and construction managers. Coordinate with government agencies, stakeholders, and clients to ensure project requirements are met. Provide technical support and guidance to junior engineers and other team members. Field Work and Inspections: Conduct site visits and inspections to assess existing drainage conditions and gather data for design purposes. Oversee construction activities to ensure compliance with design plans and specifications. Identify and resolve drainage-related issues during construction. Documentation and Reporting: Prepare technical reports, memoranda, and other documentation as required. Maintain accurate project records and documentation. Present findings and recommendations to clients and stakeholders. Qualifications: Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field. Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred. Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in water resources engineering, with a focus on drainage and stormwater management. Experience with transportation projects or DOTs is highly desirable. Technical Skills: Proficiency in hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software (HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SWMM).
