Supervisor Sterile Processing

PeaceHealth is seeking a Supervisor Sterile Processing for a Full Time, 10 Hour, Evening Shift position. The salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $31.70 - $47.54. The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, seniority, etc.
Job Summary
Under the direction of the Manager-Sterile Processing, is responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities of the Sterile Processing department to ensure efficient processes and quality services.
Essential Functions
- Oversees daily workflow to ensure service standards are met and to ensure staff consistently follows standard job expectations and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinates work assignments and oversees monthly schedule.
- Serves as a resource to staff for issues surrounding instrumentation and sterilization.
- Participates in the hiring selection process.
- Collaborates with management to develop and implement policies, procedures and the business work plans for the department.
- Provides leadership and supervisory guidance in quality improvement efforts. May be asked to lead quality initiatives.
- Maintains and reports required regulatory records and quality assurance reports.
- Participates in the staff evaluation and disciplinary processes.
- Collaborates effectively with the Instrument Coordinator to assure seamless flow of surgical supplies and instruments.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education
- High School Diploma Required or Equivalent
- Minimum of 2 years Required: Experience in sterile processing, surgical services, and/or supply chain materials management
- Required: Knowledge of sterile processing and regulatory requirements
- Required: Experience with Ortho, Neuro, and General Surgical instrumentation
- Preferred: Previous leadership/supervisory experience
- Required : Certified Registered Central Service Technician through HSPA or
- Required : Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician
- Proficient use of computers including MS Office applications (Required)
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. (Required)
- Strong administrative, organizational, and problem solving skills. (Required)
- Understands facility standards and practice guidelines as well as state and federal regulations. (Required)
- Ability to lead teams and delegate assignments. (Required)
- Ability to adapt in a dynamic work environment and make independent decisions. (Required)
- Demonstrate ability to work under stress while maintaining a courteous, tactful and professional manner. (Required)
Southwest Medical Center
Education
* Associate's Degree Healthcare or equivalent education/experience - Required
* Bachelor's Degree Healthcare or equivalent education/experience - Preferred
* Technical Program Sterile Processing - Required
Experience
* Minimum of 3 years of Experience in sterile processing, surgical services, and/or supply chain materials management - Required
* Minimum of 2 years of Experience in a leadership role either as a lead or supervisor - Required
* Working with Instrument Tracking Systems and Material Ordering Systems - Preferred
Credentials
* Certified Healthcare Leader through CBSPD or HSPA within 6 months - Required or
* Certified Instrument Specialist through CBSPD or HSPA within 1 Year - Required
Skills
* Advance knowledge instrumentation obtained as a Sterile Processing Technician or Surgical Technician - Required
* Must be able to work long hours and be available on-call as needed - Required
Working Conditions
Lifting
- Consistently operates computer and other office equipment.
- Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
- Sedentary work.
- Predominantly operates in an office environment.
- Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
- The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
