Job Summary

Ascot’s Excess Casualty business unit is seeking a motivated Underwriting Assistant to work in growing a diverse suite of Excess Casualty Products. The Underwriting Assistant will be responsible for supporting and managing workflows between Underwriting and Operations. The successful candidate will handle the life cycle of an account, including new business, renewals, and servicing of business.

Responsibilities

Support all steps of the underwriting process in conjunction with the underwriting operations function Liaise with Underwriters, Brokers, and Reinsurers as needed to communicate account status and complete outstanding subjectivities. Liaise with Underwriters to confirm policy issuance instructions for policies, endorsements, forms, notices, certificates, etc., and effectively complete coding/issuance. Assist with new and renewal business life cycle work such as submission preparation, rating, referral prep, quoting, and binding all the way through to policy issuance and endorsements within assigned authority. Work with internal operations partners to ensure that service standards are being met. Ensuring all parts of the Underwriting workflow are completed both accurately and on time Assist underwriters in processing new business submissions and rating sheets Assist with other projects supporting the Underwriting team as required. Assists with onboarding of new hires and/or acts as a mentor for Underwriting Assistant colleagues.

Requirements

High School diploma, some college is preferred. 1-3 years experience in a related field, P&C industry experience, experience with Excess Casualty Lines experience Must be positive, self-motivated, and possess strong interpersonal and communication skills. Highly customer-centric both internally and externally. Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Strong collaborative skills in a fast-paced team-centric environment Proficient in Microsoft Office Must be able to work a Hybrid working model.

Compensation

Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to experience, subject matter expertise, and skills. The base pay is just one component of Ascot’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include an annual cash bonus, long-term incentives, and other forms of discretionary compensation awarded by the Company. The annualized base pay range for this role is: $75,000 to $85,000.
