This individual provides leadership, direction and functional expertise to set strategic direction over financial analysis and lead the overall financial analysis of the results. This individual will also provide strategic direction over the reporting under US GAAP and IFRS bases of accounting, implementation of new IFRS standards, manage the implementation of new or changes to accounting standards under a variety of accounting bases, manage the external audit process including ownership of the creation of the audited financial statements, lead or support Corporate Finance on strategic projects. In addition, this individual will contribute to the development of Accounting strategy and ensure the integrity of accounting records are accurate and in compliance with accepted accounting policies and principles. This position will supervise two employees and will also provide indirect leadership across the corporate finance organization. Education and Experience: Bachelors or Masters degree in Accounting or Finance is required or equivalent work experience. CPA strongly preferred. 15+ years of accounting / financial reporting experience that directly aligns with the responsibilities of this position. 10+ years of experience in the Insurance Industry Preferred 5+ years of managerial, supervisory and / or demonstrated leadership experience including influencing senior management / critical stakeholders experience. Knowledge and Skills: Strong understanding of GAAP, IFRS and statutory accounting and reporting principles with the ability to research accounting issues and clearly articulate possible impacts/solutions. Strong analytical skills Demonstrated ability to understand and use financial reports as a management tool. Excellent communication and presentation skills. Prior experience using Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Power BI and other tools to generate reports, presentations, and export/import data from other systems. Strong critical thinking, ability to handle complexity and issues. Superior organizational, planning, problem solving and decision-making skills. Curious, self-starter who takes initiative, meets deadlines, works effectively in a team environment and roots out opportunities for improvement. Ability to maintain confidentiality and use good judgment with sensitive issues. Detail oriented Ability to interact effectively with all levels of senior management. Ability to work well with and influence others. Ability to multi-task Poised, works well under pressure and reacts well to change and shifting priorities. Proven leadership skills and the ability to effectively manage and challenge staff and colleagues.
