This position performs a variety of activities associated with service installation and maintenance and unregulated activities. Specific duties include, but not limited to: utilization of computers and computer order / record keeping systems, working service orders associated with current required operator qualifications.Responsibilities Perform meter turn-ons and turn-offsDeliver disconnect notifications to customersRead customer metersInstall meters and meter sets, may include industrial metersLight pilots, test and inspect appliances and gas equipment to ensure proper operationPerform farm tap maintenanceRemove metersRespond to high bill requests by performing dial tests, appliance and filter checksMeet with customers regarding line relocatesChange out meters related to the sample testing programRepair water heaters, appliances, etc. (Install if licensed)Monitor for meter tampering; ensure meters are securely installedMonitor atmospheric corrosion and paint as neededLocate gas linesInspect/maintain farm tap stationsFirst Responder to emergency/leak calls; evaluate and grade leaksAssist in training service apprenticesAssist O&M group with line repairsMay performs leak surveysAssist other departments as neededClear pipelinesRepair/install temporary clamps on steel risersRepair damaged ½" and ¾" plastic servicesBar test to evaluate and grade underground gas leaksPrepare unregulated estimates and maintain computer record keepingPerform other duties as assignedRequired/Basic Qualifications Note: Candidate will be aligned to position level dependent on relative experience. Service Specialist-Associate & Service Specialist High School/GED degreeDesired Qualifications Associates degreeIn addition to desired degree, 3 years related work experienceFuel Piping Contracting and/or Licensed Electrical Contractor and/or HVAC and PLUMBINGSpecific RequirementsPossess and maintain a valid driver's licenseAdditional Preferred QualificationsBe a Skill 50 TechDemonstrated mechanical aptitudeBasic computer knowledge working in a Windows environmentDemonstrated effective communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skillsSafety awarenessWorking ConditionsThis position contains a weight restriction of 275 pounds as an essential function of the job. The purpose of this restriction is to ensure that all weight-rated equipment is used in an appropriate and safe manner within maximum allowed weight loading.Must work outdoors in adverse weather conditions; flexible work schedule; lifting up to 75 lbs.; frequent bending, stooping, standing, crawling, digging, climbing; works on uneven terrain, many times with heavy vegetation; manual dexterity (hand/eye coordination); keen eyesight; good hearing; good sense of smell; comes in frequent contact with insects and animals.Perform on call duty as scheduled/assignedWeekend and evening work as required and is subject to overtime and some rotating shifts.
