Necessary Skills
10+ years of Sr. Accounting experience, preferably within the construction industry.
Full Cycle Month End Close ownership.
Responsible for financials, payroll, close, reporting, P&L ownership, WIP, schedules, and expense management.
A day in the role
Transfer cash after payroll approval.
Review payroll journal entries (JE) and coding.
Approve weekly check runs and invoices over $20k.
Review weekly Accounts Receivable (AR) aging and submit collections notes.
Prepare weekly cash projections.
Review weekly Profit and Loss (P&L) statements and coding.
Sign and approve lien waivers as needed.
Download weekly credit card transactions for the Cost Accountant.
Highlight gross margins and address any issues.
Gather reports and information as requested by the team or parent company.
Calculate and distribute commissions to payroll and sales teams.
Update entity permanent file for new contracts.
Add new lease vehicles to the lease schedule and submit for the new PV report.
Review, make notes, and approve/sign off on all close schedules and tasks in Box.com/Floqast.
Review cash and cash equivalents.
Sign off on revenue accruals for Time & Materials (T&M) and Quoted jobs.
Maintain the Allowance for Doubtful Accounts (AFDA) and make necessary journal entries.
Review inventory journal entries and schedules.
Allocate expenses for prepaids and other assets.
Review fixed asset schedules and approve depreciation, disposal, and additions.
Sign off on goodwill and intangibles schedules and journal entries.
Maintain and update the 355 Lease Assets schedule.
Reconcile intercompany accounts and manage cash sweeps.
Sign off on AP aging and address any issues.
Review unrecorded liabilities with AP staff.
Approve invoice accruals.
Review deferred revenue and credit card reconciliations.
Maintain payroll accruals and payable accounts.
Review and approve union reports.
Handle bonus and commission accruals.
Review and sign off on tax workpapers.
Update lease debt schedules and reconcile to financial statements.
Reconcile equity workpapers.
Review Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules and tie to financial statements.
Perform WIP adjustments and update revenue workpapers.
Expense Management and Reporting.
