In this capacity, the AVP assumes a central leadership role within the DEM Executive Leadership Team, collaborating closely with the Vice President for Enrollment Management, the Assistant Vice President for University Admissions, and other Divisional Directors to develop and execute critical enrollment and academic support strategies. The primary focus of this role is to make substantial contributions to student success throughout the entire student journey, with particular attention to enhancing student retention and fostering degree completion.Beyond these core responsibilities, the AVP will actively engage in university-wide committees (Academic Advising Council, Student Success Council) and other councils related to curriculum, academic programs, advising initiatives, student success, admissions, marketing, and strategic planning. Furthermore, they will be responsible for overseeing the strategic enrollment plan that relates to student retention and degree completion for strategies derived from the Division of Enrollment Management. The AVP for Academic Success, in conjunction with the AVP for Admissions, will represent the VPEM (Vice President for Enrollment Management) when necessary.Responsibilities and DutiesSupervision/Leadership: The AVP has direct oversight of the Director(s) for Academic Advising, Retention and Completion (AARC), Tutoring and Learning Center (TLC), Writing Center, and work in collaboration with the Athletic Academic Achievement Department and Academic College Advising Offices. The AVP will work closely with the directors of these offices to develop, enhance, and implement programs and projects that support student success. This includes creating new initiatives and improving existing ones to ensure that students have access to the resources they need. Strategic Oversight and Planning: Collaborate with key constituency groups such as, Council of Deans, Associate Deans, Council of Chairs, and other University leaders on strategic initiatives to inform and develop strategies to support student success. This collaboration is intended to gather input, share information, and collectively develop strategies to enhance student success. Be responsible for the evaluation and analysis of student retention and degree completion strategies to impact time to degree. This could involve assessing the effectiveness of existing programs, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing changes based on data and insights gathered from these evaluations. Relationship Building: Develop, maintain, and enhance relationships with key campus partners, including the Office of the Provost, Student Affairs, Director of New Student Programs, and the DEM leadership team, which includes Admissions, Financial Aid, and the Registrar's Office. Represent DEM on various university-wide councils and committees, including the Strategic Enrollment Management Council, University Curriculum Committee, Student Success Council, Academic Advising Council, Committee on Institutional Effectiveness, and other high-priority initiatives. Work in collaboration by sharing insights and expertise related to enrollment management, advocating for the needs and goals of the DEM departments, and collaborating with other stakeholders to shape university-wide policies and initiatives. Alignment with the University's Strategic Plan: Represent DEM as the lead in supporting and aligning the Division's Enrollment Management Plan with TU's 2020-2030 Strategic Plan: Leadership for the Public Good. Maintain and report annual assessments on DEM goals and objectives. Supporting Underrepresented Students: Responsible for promoting access and success for traditionally underrepresented students by collaborating with the VP for DEM to support national initiatives like ATI and by ensuring that the university's efforts are well-documented and organized through the maintenance of a comprehensive database of student success initiatives for the Division of Enrollment Management. Responsible for the creation development of new strategies, programs, and policies that align with student success best practices to help traditionally underrepresented students access and succeed in college. Report Writing and Editing: Prepare and edit reports for the VP for DEM, including an annual enrollment report, marketing documents, and any publications created by and for the Division.
